Don't be confused by the name Liverpool - Speke Airport is not in the centre of Liverpool, but it is approximately 5 miles from the centre. It has changed a lot over the years as if you travel from Liverpool to the airport you will see on your right the old Airport buildings which have been taken over for a hotel and a gym. The new airport is small, but ideal for the traffic it has which is mainly private planes, charter flights and of course Easy Jet. The check in hall is small there are only a few desks and very few shops. The cafe, which is above this area, is of good quality and it is cheap, but only relative to other airports. Getting there for me is OK as I only live 30mins away, but for those coming from further away the problem is that there are no motorways only 1 major 'A' road that runs past it. There are buses that run to it from the city centre, but the nearest local train station is a short hike away. This lack of public transport probably means you would have to drive and park there, if you want to leave your car they have a 24 hour guarded car-park which (if I remember correctly) is about £35/week.
