This is my fourth year in Liverpool now as a student and have another three to look forward to!
From the moment I arrived I loved all aspects of the city. The first thing that struck me was how big the city centre was having nearly every shop you could imagine and more (compared to my home town with one main street!) There is always such a vibrant atmosphere of people rushing around whether it’s a Saturday or a Monday.
The nightlife is amazing with something suited for everyone. If you want to combine some culture in you whilst out for a drink I highly recommend visiting Mathew Street and heading straight for The Cavern, described as "The Most Famous Club in the World". It was here were The Beatles made over 300 appearances and it is full of interesting musical memorabilia. Another very lively nightspot is Concert Square which is surrounded by really good disco bars including Modo (excellent cocktail bar), Walkabout (the Aussie bar). You are able to take your drinks out and relax in the square which is really a brilliant atmosphere on those long summer evenings – the first time I experienced it, it reminded me of being on holiday over on the continent. If your after a more elegant, exquisite venue then you should get down to the docks, with the PanAmerican Club and Baby Cream – it is down here you will find the odd footballer or member of the Holyoaks cast.
You won’t have a hard time finding somewhere to eat out either – There are many restaurants at the docks which have an excellent reputation. I have only ever eaten in the PanAmerican and I give it ten out of ten. 60 Hope Street is another restaurant you can’t miss out on – make sure you try the deep fried jam sandwich for dessert! If Chinese is more your taste then head to ChinaTown which is full of Chinese restaurants and takeaways.
As Liverpool has been voted Capital of Culture in 2008 it would be a shame to miss out on the sights of the city. There are many museums, The Beatle’s Story exhibition and the Magical Mystery Tour which takes you round the Beatles former homes, schools etc…really not to missed.
Getting to the city is very easy with the majority of major transport routes taking you right into the heart of the city. By rail, you will come into Lime Street Station, the M62 comes straight into the city and by air you will arrive at the John LennonAirport at Speke (~15mins taxi from the city centre).
There is so much going on in this vibrant city that I couldn’t review it all but I hope it has helped you a little in decided where to go and what to do.

Advantages: vibrancyhumour, world-class, history, nightlife, people, heritage, future... Disadvantages: all of those - like run-down etc - are being overcome
Advantages: Excellent coffee, relaxing atmosphere, delicious food and sweet treats Disadvantages: Over priced, lack of comfy seating, upstairs seating area closes before the café does
