Livingstone offers a diverse nightlife (by Zambian standards, which is pretty poor if your used to Westernized going out) but there are many bars with music that will go on till the very late hours. The best way to enjoy the evening is to go on one of the sunset cruises ( costing about $45) where you will be fed and get unlimited drink for the evening.

When relaxing for the day, you can go to the museum which is very interesting, or one of the markets. Either the one at the entrance to the falls, or the craft markets at the other side of the town towards Barclays. Both ... more
If travelling to Zambia it is well worth your while to go down to livingstone. Buses travel very regularly from lusaka and many other places for a fare fee (around $20/k100000). The journey takes about 6 hours.
Obviously the main attraction is Victoria Falls, and when going I highly recommend picking up a guide and walking about the falls and visiting the 'Angel's Armchair'. This is a once in a lifetime experience and one in which you can go right to the edge of the falls and look into the famous 'mosi-o-tunya'. I stayed at Livingstone backpackers, which is the place to stay when going on a budget. However, i highly recommend buying a discount book before to stay. they cost $2 but are not advertised at all, for obvious reasons as they will save you a lot of money when staying there.

When relaxing for the day, you can go to the museum which is very interesting, or one of the markets. Either the one at the entrance to the falls, or the craft markets at the other side of the town towards Barclays. Both offer a wide range of Zambian crafts and are a enjoyable chat with the locals while bartering.
Livingstone also offers a very large selection of restaurants catering for all needs. For any more information while you are there go to Fawlty towers (one of the hostels) and they are more than willing to help.
Advantages: Beautiful surrondings, the real Africa not too commercialised Disadvantages: Getting there is a bit bumpy!!
I lived in Africa for 13 years and we visited Victoria Falls countless amount of times.
It is so beautiful, the Zambian side of the falls is better in my opinion as it is so unspoilt but Zimbabwe is a little commercialised but it is fun walking over the Zambia/Zimbabwe line!
The white water rafting is something you will never ever forget, it is exhilarating, exciting and the scenery - well you cant really describe it untill you see it yourself.

Reviews which might be of interest for "Livingstone (Zambia)"
Advantages: One of the 7 wonders of the world Disadvantages: none really - excepting for the current political climate
A World Heritage Site and one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World, this is the largest curtain of falling water on earth, with Zambia on one side and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) on the other.
Dr. David Livingstone first set eyes on Victoria Falls in 1855 and was immediately enthralled, and yet, to this day the gentle grumbling still reminds us that this is one of the finest natural places to visit on earth! A bridge (both rail and road) was constructed by Charles Darwin's son, which joined Zimbabwe and Zambia.
There is plenty to do and see for the more adventurous visitor. Bungee jumping, white water rafting are but only two of various activities to take part in. Canoe and walking safaris are also on offer by the many tour operators. For the sporting type, golf can be played at a local hotel's golf course. Inevitably, you ...
Advantages: breathtaking Disadvantages: lack of decent toilets
Into the northwest of Zimbabwe runs the Zambezi River. This great river enters Zimbabwe from Zambia in an astounding manner. It crashes over one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world - Victoria Falls. David Livingstone was the first outsider to stumble across this incredible nature feature and reported it to the world in 1860, naming it after his Queen - Victoria.
However, the 'natives' had already given it a name - Mosi-oa-Tunya - meaning The Smoke that Thunders. This is a very apt name which they gave it as the roar of the falls can be heard from the town of Victoria Falls which is situated about 15mins walk away. The spray - or smoke as they described it - can be seen from miles away as the water falls 100m into a deep gorge.
The falls themselves are situated in their own National Park, protecting them from ...
Advantages: superb setting, great food, easy access, private (max. 18 people) Disadvantages: I haven't found any yet, but read the guide I have written below for some possible problem areas.
I have been going to Impalila Island lodge for the last 6 years, mainly to enjoy the thrill of catching tiger fish, but in 2004 with my wife and 15 year old son for a 25 year wedding anniversary trip.
First the location:
Impalila is a small part of Namibia surrounded by Botswana and Zambia. The island itself has the Zambezi on one side and the Chobe on the other. The "delta" where the Chobe and Zambezi join is linked to the Chobe National park for excellent game viewing, and is also home to hundreds of different bird species. Victoria Falls are about 55 km away and can be accessed through Zambia (Livingstone) or Zimbabwe (Vic Falls).
A few words about the lodge and staff and what you can do and what is included and not and I will finish with some comments on practical elements such as health, clothing, access and so on ...
