If travelling to Zambia it is well worth your while to go down to livingstone. Buses travel very regularly from lusaka and many other places for a fare fee (around $20/k100000). The journey takes about 6 hours.
Obviously the main attraction is Victoria Falls, and when going I highly recommend picking up a guide and walking about the falls and visiting the 'Angel's Armchair'. This is a once in a lifetime experience and one in which you can go right to the edge of the falls and look into the famous 'mosi-o-tunya'. To get around while there there is a plentiful supply of taxis and you shuold not pay more than K30000 (one-way) to get to and from the falls
Livingstone offers a diverse nightlife (by Zambian standards, which is pretty poor if your used to Westernized going out) but there are many bars with music that will go on till the very late hours. The best way to enjoy the evening is to go on one of the sunset cruises ( costing about $45) where you will be fed and get unlimited drink for the evening.
I stayed at Livingstone backpackers, which is the place to stay when going on a budget. However, i highly recommend buying a discount book before to stay. they cost $2 but are not advertised at all, for obvious reasons as they will save you a lot of money when staying there.
The activities on offer in Livingstone are fantastic. The white water rafting is a must. the morning session is much better than the afternoon one with better rapids and a larger selection on different river conditions.
When relaxing for the day, you can go to the museum which is very interesting, or one of the markets. Either the one at the entrance to the falls, or the craft markets at the other side of the town towards Barclays. Both offer a wide range of Zambian crafts and are a enjoyable chat with the locals while bartering.
Livingstone also offers a very large selection of restaurants catering for all needs. For any more information while you are there go to Fawlty towers (one of the hostels) and they are more than willing to help.
