When I worked on Tha Railway Computer Systems we had a system that connected to Ljubljana, the contacts always seemed so nice and proud of their Country and City, so I vowed to visit.

So this October with Jane (my better half) Katherine (daughter) and Russ Katherines Partner off we went.

We travelled on the 13:30 Flight Friday from Stansted, tail wind so flight time about 1 Hour 50 min. they are 1 hour ahead, so landed about 16:30 local time.
Ljubljana airport is about 17km out of the city.

There are Taxis available.
Coach transfer direct is 5 euros about 30 mins journey time.
There is a local stopping bus slightly cheaper, which on a morning arrival we would have given a try, but as time was going on the quicker option appealed.

Both Bus services drop you off at the same plave, givel opposite sides of the road.
You then have only about a 400 yard walk down the street to arrive at the Triple Bridge which is the centre of the old town.

Ljubljana is quite small so any Hotel you choose that says town centre or old town will have a good location for your visit.

Shopping tip, is this is your object do not do weekend, nearly all shops Close at 13:00 Saturday to reopen Monday, so civilised. that includes super markets and small shops.
The exception being the Market cafes and eateries.

If you start your tour at the Triple Bridge you are withing shouting distance of nearly all there is to see,

We started with the Market, wonderful Fruit, Veg, Breads, Cheeses , Wines, Meat and fish. Pickup a tooth pick to taste all that is offered.
Mushrooms so big one would fill a plate.

There is a machine to buy you FULL CREAM MILK in what ever amout you require, 100 ml to 1 litre, how nice for the single person who wants less than a pint.

There are Craft Stalls, Cloaths etc etc.
There is a row of catering vans selling all kinds of food, we went for a fried mixed plate of Fish/Calamari, delicious.

After the Market we assended to the Castle (seperate review) you can either climb a winding steep pathway (free), a Venicular Rail system small charge, or there is a Tourist Road train that goes up once an hour 3 euros return.

On Sunday Morning there is a Flea/Antiques market by the River, mainly Stamps/Medals and collectables. Most stalls reminded me of Car Boot type stalls at home, a quirky mix.

In the evenings there are the Restaurants and bars to keep you happy without as yet being taken over by the Stag Parties that Prague now suffers from.

Sunday is the Busiest day we had, it seems the days for the Locals to strollout and enjoy their city.
Tivoli Park was very busy a lovely green space for people to enjoy, parks like we used to have, walks, lake, Museme, not a skate board or hoodie in site.

Because of the size and flight times, two nights would give you ample time to see the city and its sights.
You arrive at the city approx 17:45 on arrival, and the return flight means you can have until about 14:00 on your last day before depating to the airport.
