I am not a parent but I do feel that us Brits do our children a great disservice when it comes to eating out. We segregate them from mainstream diners by taking them to "kiddy-friendly places" such as McDonald's, Brewers Fayre and the Wacky Warehouse , feeding them on a diet of beans chips and processed, reclaimed meat coated in breadcrumbs and moulded into cute shapes. Thus when children are taken to decent establishments they do not know how to behave unlike on the continent (I know this is a generalisation). Luckily the tide seems to be turning...... I stayed at the LloydHotel in late September 2005, and as the review title suggests, I loved it. But before I get to why, lets get the basics out of the way.
The Lloyd is situated in the Eastern Docklands Area, which is a 10 minute cab ride (?20) from Centraal Station. There is also a tram that can drop you off very close to the hotel, but if you are travelling light my tip would be to take a left out of the station, go to Mac's Bikes, hire a bike and ride to the hotel. It takes 15 minutes, and its very easy. The guys at Mac's Bikes will give you directions. If you are staying here a bike is a good investment as the hotel is not in the city centre.

This is an example of a monster of a bank who are extremely good to you if you are paying the staff wages, but when you get into difficulties they seem to heavily crush you. Mind you it is not fair to say Lloyds are alone in this, all the financial institutions operate this way.
