Advantages: PRICE and GOOD LOCATION Disadvantages: STAIRS AND ATTIC ROOM
LOCANDA NOVO is a small Hotel , they describe it as an Inn, located on the main Island of Venice.
We Quatro Fontanas (Fountain Travel Group) have stayed there once, and would consider it again.
For the price this Hotel is very good but there are some limitations that might put you off if you have dodgy knees.
First the location, OK it is not St Marks but you are not paying St Mark's prices. If you look through
WWW.HOTELSCOMPARISON.COM site you will find offers of less than £50 per night for a double room with breakfast.
The Hotel has its own web site WWW.LOCANDANOVO.IT which is quite good, but you will get a better price booking through other sites, but it does show you the official rate ...
We actually stayed in the Anex of Hotel Colombia that is called LOCANDA REMEDIO.
You use the checkin of the Colombina, then they take you thru the back yard, DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU.
You then enter the Anex climbing a stone stairway that opens into a Beautiful Salon, this is where you will have breakfast, superb compared with small breakfast room in the main Hotel.
The staff come across in the morning and set the tables in the Salon.
The rooms around the Salon vary in size, some quite small (This is Venice) but all encharting.
Location, 100 yards from Saint Marks.
Cost we usually get a Double with Breakfast in March for about £40 to £50 a night.
2008 cant wait. ...
Advantages: Warm welcome, comfortable accomodation, good location, near to public transport Disadvantages: Some rooms have a separate private bathroom instead of an en suite
Sometimes you find a little Hotel somewhere that you really like. It's not grand and elaborate. It doesn't have swimming pools or fantastic sea views, but it has that certain something that makes it very special. This was how it was for us at the LocandaHerion Hotel in Venice.
We stayed there for 4 nights in April 2005. The hotel is situated in the Cannaregio area of Venice which is in the North. This area is a great place to stay as it's a little way from the touristy (and rather expensive) areas further down. It is also very covenient to get to from Marco Polo airport. You can get there by Vaporetto (10 euros), or by train, but i personally would recommend catching the number 5 bus to Piazzale Roma (3 euros). from there it's about a 15 minute walk, or you can catch a vaporetto.
The hotel itself is situated along a main street ...
