and its harmony and taste where old stones and bricks have been turned today into wonderfully restored country houses to offer the visitor top of the class comfort and relaxation. Borgo Il Melone is wonderfully located, being close to all the major rail and road connections and to all relevant central Italian art cities such as Florence, Arezzo, Siena and Perugia, resting at the foot of one Tuscany's most ancient Etruscan settlements, Cortona.

...I have lived within the reach of Cortona now for over 2 years. Over this time I have come to realize the vast amount of attractions there are here.
During the summer months the heat can hit the 40's quite easily! So bring that sun lotion!
Cortona is a VERY old mountain side town which overlooks Lago Di Trasimeno (Lake Trasimeno). In was in this area that Hannibal defeated the Romans.
Cortona has many attractions for the tourist including the Etruscan museum which is situated in Piazza Signorelli. At the top of Cortona is an extremely old Fort.
The views from Cortona are very Panoramic and a photographer would definatly appreciate the views.
At Lago Di Trasimeno (Lake Trasimeno) there are many public beaches. On these public beaches are pedal boats, snack bars and the odd volley-ball court!

...We actually stayed in the Anex of Hotel Colombia that is called LOCANDA REMEDIO.
You use the checkin of the Colombina, then they take you thru the back yard, DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU.
You then enter the Anex climbing a stone stairway that opens into a Beautiful Salon, this is where you will have breakfast, superb compared with small breakfast room in the main Hotel.
The staff come across in the morning and set the tables in the Salon.
The rooms around the Salon vary in size, some quite small (This is Venice) but all encharting.
Location, 100 yards from Saint Marks.
Cost we usually get a Double with Breakfast in March for about £40 to £50 a night.
2008 cant wait....

Advantages: PRICE and GOOD LOCATION Disadvantages: STAIRS AND ATTIC ROOM
...LOCANDA NOVO is a small Hotel , they describe it as an Inn, located on the main Island of Venice.
We Quatro Fontanas (Fountain Travel Group) have stayed there once, and would consider it again.
For the price this Hotel is very good but there are some limitations that might put you off if you have dodgy knees.
First the location, OK it is not St Marks but you are not paying St Mark's prices. If you look through
WWW.HOTELSCOMPARISON.COM site you will find offers of less than £50 per night for a double room with breakfast.
The Hotel has its own web site WWW.LOCANDANOVO.IT which is quite good, but you will get a better price booking through other sites, but it does show you the official rate...
