Calle del Remedio - Castello, 4416 30122 Venice Italy.

We have just returned from this 4 Star Hotel where we spent 3 Nights, I hear you regular readers of my reviews "What is POSHTROIKA doing staying in a 4 Star, he usually goes for the cheap options".

Well we were a party of six and the Locanda Remedio (Annex to Colombina) only had two rooms available (See my review of the Locanda under COLOMBINA HOTEL) so I booked one room in the main Hotel, after all it is for our 38th Wedding Anniversary , so lets splash out.

The Hotel is located approx 100 yards from St Marks Square, it is located on the Canal which has the Bridge of Sighs over it, so prime location for a visit to Venice.

The Check-in is a small area, after all space is always at a premium in Venice, but very smart and friendly staff ensure a smooth process.
A smart porter is called who will then show you to your room, and explains how everything works. He then goes back to bring your luggage up. A small tip is appreciated.
The room, as is the mostly the case in Venice is on the small size of Medium, but for a short stay is fine.
The furnishings are very smart, with fabric coverings to the walls. A unit that has two Hanging units either side of a dressing table.
A very comfortable double bed with emaculate bedding.
A small mini bar in the corner with a flat screen TV on top.

The Bath room was quite large, a bit of a surprise. Bowl, toilet, bidet and bath with over (very efficient) shower. Careful the water is very hot, anytime of the day.

Towels and sheets were changed every day, even though we followed instruction re Towels that if left on the rack you were willing to use again, to save water.

We found on our returns in the afternoons, the beds had been turned down, a couple of chocolates had been left with a weather forecast card for the next day, a useful idea and appreciated.

Downstairs there is a small lounge area, again very comfortable furnishings, there is a small Bar and drinks will be bought to your table, as usual Hotel Prices are a deal more than the local Bars. (Cocktails about 8 Euros).

There is a very smart two room Breakfast room which serves breakfast from 07:00 until 10:30 , so no need to rush.
An attentive staff will request what you want to drink and this will quickly be brought to your table, coffee very strong.
There is a Buffet table with the Usual Bread Rolls, Hams, Cheese, Yoghurts, four kinds of Cereal, a selection of fresh fruits and a Desert (Cheese Cake Tiramisu etc)
They also have a small menu at extra charge for Fried Eggs, Poached Eggs, Bacon etc.

The Breakfast room is bright and there is QUIET Classical music played in the background so Breakfast is a very pleasant occasion.

The Hotel also provides a booking service for anything and everything, but you will find it cheaper if you make your own arrangements.
E.G Hotel for the six of us Gondola Ride 30 Euros Each total 180 Euros, if booked with Gondolier direct 80 to 100 Euros.

So to sum up a very Good Hotel in superb location for visiting Venice, We booked thru OCTOPUSTRAVEL.Com Hotel Room was £95 per night for Double Room, but if you can get into the Annex Locanda Remedio you pay just £50 per night, where the rooms are just as good, and you have the same location.
