Logis De France Britannia, Paris

The hôtel Britannia is an ancient building and has received travellers for more than 200 hundred years. Alphonse Allais stayed here, and if only for that, it is inconceivable that... more...the hotel could have the atmosphere of a hotel belonging to a chain.

Advantages: Independent hotel character meets reliable value
Disadvantages: Few big city or very posh hotels - if that is a disadvantage

. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * CONCLUSION Logis de France do not provide for every possible hotel need when in France. If you?re searching for a range of hotels in the centre of Paris, Lyon or Marseille, you?re better off calling the local Tourist Office. If you?re looking for a really fancy place for a celebratory blow-out and don?t mind paying the price, take a look at www.chateauxhotels.com or www.relaischateaux.com. If you want a luxurious hideaway, try www.relais-du-silence.com. But if you want a good-value middle-range or even lower-middle-range hotel, of individual character but with reliable food and a predictable range of facilities, accurately described in the guidebook, then among the Logis de France is the ideal place to look. You won?t be at the mercy of some faceless branded chain, and you?re not likely to encounter any surprises, or at least, not any ...

France Louvre, Paris

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Quality of rooms

I have just come back from Paris having spent 2 nights at the France Louvre. This is my review.... Location The best part of staying at the France Louvre was the location, right in the centre of Paris with great transport links. Metro station 'Chatelet- Les Halles' is only a 5-min walk away and seems to be a main station of Paris. The location of this Hotel is particularly useful if you are travelling on Eurostar as Chatelet station is only one stop away from the Gard Du Nord Eurostar terminal (Line B - Blue line). Also if you are visiting Stade De France this is only two stops away on the same line. After a game at the Stade De France you can be back to the hotel within 15 minutes providing you don't get caught up in queues!! This hotel is also a couple of minutes away from the Seine and around 10 minutes walk to the Louvre ...

"Lille De France" - Geddit?

Advantages: Near London by train, cosmopolitan feel, excellent transport connections, eating out, plenty to see
Disadvantages: Dog poo

-the-limit cars on the adjacent M20 HAS to be the best advert for a train you?ll ever see. Lille is a hub for northern Europe?s fast rail routes, being on the border with Belgium ? Brussels is an impressive 38 minutes away, and Paris is no slouch at one hour distant. Lille is a former European Capital of Culture, having just handed over the mantle to Cork last month. Outside of Paris, Lille is northern France?s centre for art and museums, and overall, France?s 4th-largest city. Most of all, Lille is a nice place; to eat in, to stay in, to wander around and look at, and heaven forbid, to buy things in! WHY PICK NOW? AKA ?CROYEZ-VOUS AU PÈRE-NOËL?? Good question ? I?m glad you asked. If the passengers on Saturday?s 10:42 departure for Brussels were anything to go by, the Torygraph?s* ?get a weekend return for the price of a day ...
