Advantages: A historical building Disadvantages: disappointing and spoilt by the owners
CASTLE LODGE
It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here.
After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. We were all in high spirits and enjoying our food and refreshments, I dropped the bombshell that I wanted to see the house, they did try to dissuade me as they were now getting slightly tired and wanted to do a little retail ...

Advantages: Unique and fascinating sight, plenty to explore Disadvantages: Climb to Hill Complex is quite steep, can be very hot
the tourists and are equally at home eating fruit from the trees or collecting pickings from the cafeteria. The local attendant uses a catapult when they become over intrusive ! The sharp eyed will note their bright blue colouring in a rather delicate part of the anatomy ! The rocks also make the perfect home for lizards which you can spot all over the place.
Great Zimbabwe is a fascinating and fun place to explore and a visit is highly recommended. Accommodation choices include Lodge at the Ancient City (recommended), Great Zimbabwe Hotel or Py Nyanda Lodge. ...

Being a British woman who lived in Zimbabwe for 2 1/2yrs, only returning to the UK in April '00, I can sadly no longer recommed visiting Zimbabwe, at the present moment in time. Despite everything you hear on the news about racism and the blacks hating the whites, it simply isn't true. I married a Black Zimbabwean so they can't be that bad! However, President Mugabe has now stated publicly that he "cannot guarantee the safety of diplomats or foreign aid workers based there". Now while he dooesn't state tourists in this statement his small, but trusty, band of violent supporters may well attack any white (or foreigner) without asking what their business is.
I must state that I do not know how badly affected the Tourist areas such as Vitoria Falls and Great Zimbabwe have been affected. Therefore if you do decided to travel to Zimbabwe ...
