Not Tonight! I've Got A Headache!!

Advantages: Great songs, set etc
Disadvantages: Awful script, some weak performances.

How can I refuse when the wife says, “I’m working in London soon – shall I go to the half-price ticket booth in Leicester Square to get some theatre tickets for the evening?” She’s quick to learn my lass – or just incredibly good at pandering to my wants… I’d never thought that from our very first date as a bona fide couple to see ‘The Complete Works of Shakespeare’ by the Reduced Shakespeare Company up in Sheffield, she’d be so eager to keep going ...
...working and soon there’ll be another member of the family to educate!! Actually, it will probably be a member of the family through whom Daddy can live all his childhood dreams of being an actor on the West End stage..! Anyway – when theatre is suggested, you lot know I’m not one to refuse... That would be just plain rude! And so it came to pass that we went to see ‘Tonight’s the Night’ at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London’s West End. ***THE ...

The Woman who wails

Advantages: It's a night out?
Disadvantages: It isn't very good!

...to Lloyd-Weber’s latest “epic” – the “Woman in White” last night which was an interesting but sadly disappointing experience. Having seen a few of his previous shows – Cats, Starlight Express, Joseph, Phantom, Sunset Boulevard, I had thought that the quality was improving, and his shows are usually entertaining if nothing else, so I was looking forward to a pleasant evening and forked out for 2 top price tickets. Quel erreur! Based on the novel ...
...mysterious, suspenseful psychological thriller, which the press quotes would have you believe is a well written masterpiece full of lush romantic melodies. To be fair – one should always ignore the press quotes though. For example the quotes from the Telegraph are:- 1) "Big, lush romantic melodies" from this sentence:- “It therefore gives me no pleasure at all to report that The Woman in White is a terrible disappointment. Yes, there are moments ...

Very Random Silliness

Advantages: Quite funny, light hearted, entertaining, everyone seemed to enjoy it
Disadvantages: The seats (room), may offend those it pokes fun at, if easily offended, transport links

...musical version of the popular Monty Python movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a movie that my dad actually appeared in briefly as an extra, playing a peasant in the 'burn the witch' scene. I'll say right off that I found it a disappointment that the musical didn't include this song or scene, since I would have pointed it out to my dad if it was included but oh well. This is definitely not a 'to be taken seriously' musical at all, its a comedy ...
...im sure that long time Monty Python fans would enjoy this. It is nice to see a light hearted musical that is funny and doesn't take alot of work to follow, rather than the very serious and complicated musicals that can be around. I think that given the rather pessimistic news and economical situation at the moment, its a good thing to go and see, as some light relief away from the news, so in that respect its quite welcome. Here's some basic information ...

"Gold - everywhere the glint of gold..."

Advantages: Good narrative, Wonderful objects, Great partnership with Vue Cinema
Disadvantages: Expensive, Audio tour could have been better

"At first I could see nothing, the hot air escaping from the chamber causing the candle flame to flicker, but presently, as my eyes grew accustomed to the light, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues and gold - everywhere the glint of gold...I was struck dumb with amazement, and when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand the suspense any longer, inquired anxiously, "Can you see anything?" it was all I could do ...
...in his book "The Tomb of Tut.ankh.Amen". On November 4th 1922, the excavation team working for beleaguered British archaeologist Howard Carter stumbled upon the top step of the entrance to a hidden tomb. Carter has been hunting for an undisturbed find in the Valley of the Kings for many years without success, and was rapidly coming to the end of both his time and money. Exhausted and facing having to leave Egypt empty-handed, this chance find represented ...
