...London is the ideal British holiday destination. It is accessible by train, plane, car and coach. Being the capital of England, it is no wonder that there is so much to see and do there. There is the famous Millennium Eye, the largest Ferris wheel in the world. There is also the wax works, London Zoo, The Tower of London and Tower Bridge. There are also many other sites to see. All of these are accessible by the famous London Underground. The underground is quite cheap taking into account the distance that you can go on it. It can at times though be quite complicated as it may be necessary to change lines, depending where you got on and where you are going to. You can also expect usually to stand on the trains.
For places to stay London has got a very wide selection. These range from simple bed and breakfasts' to five star...

...I stayed at the Mercure in December 2005. It was a bit of last minute booking - booked it on the Friday and then travelled on the Monday. Due to this it was the literally the only place in central London available for the week and prior to this I had never even heard of the hotel!
Location - It is literally just behind the Tate Modern and Millenium Bridge. It is about 10mins walk from the hotel to the nearest tube at LondonBridge so it is relatively easy to get about.
Rooms - Rooms are basic. Similar to staying in an Ibis or Travellodge. They do have everything you need though - TV, tea and coffee facilities etc. And they seemed clean.
Facilities - The hotel has a small gym. In has a restaurant and bar but I never ate or drink so can't comment on this. Staff all seemed relatively friendly.
Price - It was between £60 - £70...

Advantages: Close to tube, lovely rooms, fantastic pool & sauna Disadvantages: website has few good photos
...After being very sceptical about the costs of hotels in London we saw an offer at the Grange City in May.
The room was very posh with big TV, seating area and a bathroom that I would love to have at home. The bed was very comfortable and for 4 nights I felt like a queen.
The location is great tube station less than a minutes walk. The Tower of London is just across the road and Tower Bridge nearby. There is a Wetherspoons 2 mins walk from the hotel and the prices are not too inflated compared to the North of England!
The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was delicous a great selection - English breakfast extra cost mind you.
The pool, sauna and steam are just what you need after walking around all day. Very peaceful too. The jacuzzi was very good for the aches and pains in the knees!!
The reason the website has not got...

I'm a big fan of Ibis hotels and stay in them for both business and pleasure. I had, however, read a bad opinion of the London Euston branch, so when I found myself needing to stay in Euston the other night it was with slight trepidation that I booked... more
