Gatwick Airport is a busy place, but for me remains one of my favourite international airports. (Not that I have visited many!) The airport is well organised, but is split into two North Terminal and South Terminal. There is a shuttle link between the two Terminals. Gatwick Airport is part of the BAA Group, serving over 20 million customers a year.
The airport can be exciting for both the young and old alike. The excitement of travelling to new places can be truly motivating. Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world. There are even cars with swivel seats suitable for disabled travellers.
**Parking**
There are onsite short stay car parks, but for real peace of mind it is worth using the off site security car parks. These are about ten minutes away from the terminals, but a lot cheaper than onsite parking. Regular transfer coaches to the terminals from Long Stay Parking areas are frequent and free. There is usually a high standard of customer care too.
Each car park is well signed, with Easy-to-follow signs. If pre-payment has not been made, a clearly displayed price list is clearly displayed at car park entrances. There is even extra help for drivers with special needs. There is also good security with surveillance and regular patrols and the staff seem friendly and helpful. There is even A free jump start is available if your car breaks down!
There are two 24-hour petrol stations, one at the North Terminal and one at the South Terminal. They tend to be a little pricey but if you are stick for petrol, they can sort the problem.

The favoriate part of any trip it take.

This is just a taster of what is available at London Gatwick. I personally prefer the South Terminal, but there are a lot more shops there. I have never had a problem with check-in or customs. Okay there are queues, but most of the time there is order. I have only had one delay and then it was only a three hour delay.I have always found the staff kind and helpful. All in all I have no complaint and am really longing for my next holiday to arrive!
Advantages: Very well organised. Clean. Lots of places to buy last minute essentials. Disadvantages: Not the easiest to get to.
To be honest Gatwick airport is one that I try to avoid, not for any other reason than it is possibly the trickiest of the major UK airports for me to get to form the East Midlands where I live.
However, when I booked my flights for my recent trip to Canada, the best fare was via Gatwick, so I plumped for the bargain, and faced the reality that I would have to get to Gatwick. This was made worse by the fact that my flight was at midday, and with ... ...before any international flight, meant that I had to be there for around 9am. The M25 at that time in the morning as many of you will vouch for is horrific, and I did not look forward to the journey. In the end we left home at around 5 am, and got to Gatwick at 8.45 am, after stressing out whilst sat stationary on the M25, and generally having a very unpleasant journey indeed. Thanks go to Steve my husband for putting up with me moaning at him, and ...

Now I could blind you all with facts and figures about Gatwick but then you would all get bored and I am sure a lot of you already know how to get to Gatwick. I take no prisoners and make no excuses for this pathetic excuse for an airport and my explanation of it. Gatwick is the busiest single ...

Advantages: Good motorway access, reasonable parking and other facilities Disadvantages: They just cannot cope with above-average numbers of departing passengers
Gatwick Airport for me is a must to avoid. I last went through there a year ago and it was a disaster. I note that most of the Ciao reviews were written before the current security measures came into place, when they would have been justifyably more favourable.
I hope, but doubt, that it has changed much in the last year, I don't know, because I have taken to using alternative more local airports like Southampton and Bristol, where the staff are ... ...through Gatwick tomorrow, and if I was lucky to get the time of day right, I could sail through and wonder what all the fuss was about. My last experience put me in such a bad frame of mind from the outset of my holiday, that I won't take the risk if I can possibly avoid it.
However, that said, later in 2008 I am taking a flight from Gatwick to La Palma (a new service operated by Thompson Airlines, to one of the smaller Canary Islands started in ...

...the UK's second largest airport, London Gatwick has the job of catering for the overflow from Heathrow and does it very well indeed. This is an outline of what Gatwick offers.
LOCATION/ACCESSIBILITY
The name London Gatwick is slightly misleading because it is not in London at all. It is in Crawley, West Sussex and just on the border of Surrey. The Gatwick Express train is a mere 30 minutes trip from London Victoria and there are also connections ... ...Bristol. Gatwick is off the M23 which connects to the M25 and is normally Ok for traffic. Parking is not too bad and is easy to get the monorail over to either terminal
ACCOMODATION
Gatwick, like most airports, provides accomodation just outside the main terminals, North and South. There is a range and the most popular is the Holiday Inn. The Ramada is also popular. If you do not fancy staying so close, take a 3 miute train trip to Crawley or Horley ...

Advantages: Transport links, clean, modern and easy to get around Disadvantages: None that I can think off
London Gatwick puts London Heathrow airport to shame, this is a modern, clean and well presented airport.
Gatwick is served by many transport links and is well situated for access to central London. On arrival at Gatwick it is a pleasant surprise to see concise and clear signage directing the passenger to where they want to be. There is ample long and short-stay car parking and free bus services to and from these at regular intervals.
There are ... ...such as duty free shops, cafes and ample toilets. There is more than adequate seating at individual gates, with drinks and confectionary machines.
I have flown out of all London airports and they all put Heathrow to shame and in my opinion Gatwick should be London's number one airport. ...

Advantages: Friendly crew Disadvantages: Very poor legroom
I flew from LondonGatwick (LGW) to Athens (ATH) in Greece on a JMC Boeing 757 aircraft in 1999. The flight was quite long at around 3 hours which emphasised the cramped seating arrangements. The food was very poor, one of my worst experiences of airline food to date. However, I recieved a complimentary english newspaper on the return flight - a rarity on most package airlines which was quite good. The cabin crew were kind and helpful and willingly arranged for me to visit the flight deck where I got the chance to discuss the airline with the pilots. They seem to be expanding and so will continue to offer average flying conditions to accompany your holiday package. ...

Advantages: Good route network, comfortable seating Disadvantages: Food poor in domestic economy, staff not always great, safety concerns
---Introduction---
The title of this review "Possibly America's best airline" is meant to be slightly tongue-in-cheek. I have to date flown with several American carriers, including Delta, American Airlines and Northwest and to be honest none of them were really shining stars in the firmament of airlines. This review is based on my experiences flying with Northwest, both on their international and domestic networks.
---Pre-flight details---
My flight was booked via a high street travel agent and was a one-way economy ticket from LondonGatwick (LGW) to Great Falls (GTF), a mid-sized town in north central Montana. This routing meant I had to change 'planes in Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) with a layover of about 5 hours. Cost of the ticket was GBP 280 and the relevant flight numbers are NW43 (London to Minneapolis) and NW709 ...
Advantages: Got me to my Destination on Time Disadvantages: Slow Check In, Miserable Cabin Crew, Rubbish Food
For the first time, I was travelling to Vancouver Canada on my own to visit Family, so obviously I was looking forward to it.
I was travelling on flight TS503 from LondonGatwick (LGW) to Vancouver (YVR). The flight was scheduled to depart at 16:05 GMT and arrive at 17:55 PT.
Arriving at Gatwick always puts me in a Holiday mood, so I made sure to be there at 13:00, the time suggested by the airline. Unfortunately, the check in queue was so long I only had 1 hour to eat and check out Duty Free before I had to board the plane. This was due to only 4 check in assistants dealing with 325 passengers. Organised, eh?!
The plane looked and seemed nice - Airbus A300-200 and was decorated nicely. Shame we couldn't have had seat back TV's, but what do I expect from a no-frills airline?! The seat seemed comfortable at first, but 5 hours ...
