Once you are checked in you are directed to a staging area to park your car where you leave your keys in the ignition. Then you will find the bus and trailer waiting for you, where the driver assists you with getting your luggage into the trailer.
If you happen to have to wait a few minutes for the next of the very regular service you may be around long enough to see the efficient compound crew safely and carefully move your car to the actual secure area of the car-park.
Then once the bus has waited for a few minutes to see if there are any more passengers you set off for your desired terminal at heathrow, (the bus does not wait long, and I have been the only passenger on the bus several times).
I would advise allowing 30 minutes in total from parking to terminal just in case the traffic is heavy as you are 5 miles away from the airport.
On your return journey and upon arrival at Heathrow you call the toll free number that you would have been provided and wait at the designated bus stop where the bus usually arrives within 15 minutes, if it isnt already waiting for you.
On arrival back to the car park you are dropped off at your car and away home you go.
Purple Parking do also provide a collection service where you drive your car to the airport yourself and one of their drivers collects it from you there and takes it back to the car park for you. Then on returning you call a different toll free number when you have lft customs and the driver and your car are waiting for you at the appointed meeting place. For an extra £30 or so on top of the very reasonable parking fee of about £4 a day it makes it even more convienient and hassle free. Another added bonus is that after you have paid for 14 days parking up to an additional 36 days in the same trip is free. very good value for money.
Purple Parking - Meet and Greet Service.
We used purple parking for the 2nd time in Apr 2008 and found it the best possible way to start our holidays. Firstly the price of £95 for 10 days parking was cheaper than most of the competitors "park off site and shuttle bus to the terminal" services. We arrived outside terminal 3 at the time arranged when booking, and a uniformed driver came straight over to the car and helped us with our luggage. After ...

Advantages: Very secure Disadvantages: Getting to it from and back to M25
I have used this car park several times over about five years. There is no doubt in my mind that my car will be there when I get back and all wheels present.
Even having used it before, I printed off the clear intructions from there web site and reminded myself again the route from the M25. The park is a brown-field site: a one time gas works. Pre-booking on the internet is a good idea as it guarantees a place and speeds the booking in. for every ... ...the ignition key in of course. If like me you have just driven for two hours, you will be pleased that there are toilets available: these are very clean. A curtesy bus takes you to your terminal.
On return to LHR, call them when in baggage reclaim then go to "curtesy bus stop 7" ... all the instructions are on the ticket.
Mini-bus back to the car park: the driver picks up the packets with the keys and exit passes then finds your car for you. When ...

Quick review of London Heathrow Airport Parking
Courtlands Parking - Heathrow. Avoid this company. They damaged my car did not own up to it, until I insisted that they showed me the paperwork that was lying on thier desk. They had recorded the damage and had even photographed it! The rear window had been smashed, they had arranged a bodged repair (rear heater not working) and had tried to clean the dents and scratches caused by their drivers who recklessly skid vehicles around their compound. They gave me 2 numbers to phone, neither will answer recorded messages that are left. My bill to date ir0 £200 for repairs. ...

Advantages: Good Transport/modern Disadvantages: can be full in summer(currently being expanded to eliviate this)
I actually work at Stansted airport and so feel I am in a position to give an up to date apprasial of the current situation.
First of all Travelling to the Airport.
There are currently roadworks on the M11 just south of the Stansted Airport turn off(Junction 8)so allow yourself an extra half hour to an hour travellling time if travelling from the M11 London or from the M25.
Parking at the Airport is slightly cheaper than at Gatwick or Heathrow. There is a long stay car park which is situated about 3/4 mile from junction 8(some 3 miles from the terminal. If you park there a free bus service brings you to the airport every 10 minutes. The short stay car park is situated at the front of the terminal with easy access to the building.
Once inside the terminal the check in desks are directly in front of you.The information desk is situated ...
Advantages: Good location, great food and memorable functions Disadvantages: Might be too close to town, quite pricey

IT AND HOW DO I GET THERE?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Located in Silvertown, Docklands, the location used to be a bit of a disadvantage, as transport links were limited and the area was an industrial wasteland. This has now been completely changed by the opening of the Dockalands Light Railway's LCY branch, which has a 'London City Airport station'. The new branch links the airport to Bank (with several stops in between) which can be reached in about 15 minutes! The station is connected to the airport terminal. By comparison, Heathrow takes about 45 min by tube from Central London, Gatwich 30 min and Stanstead aboit 45 min (both on expensive express trains.)
The airport is the only Londonairport which really is in London, (although Heathrow technically is in London, it's on the periphery ...
