I am not impressed with Heathrow Airport at all. I have just used Terminal 3 to get my flight to Tokyo and have not enjoyed using the airport one bit.
On arrival at the Terminal I made my way into the check in area, to be fair there were no problems there, I managed to get a trolley for my luggage quickly and I was checked in relatively fast. After managing to find the signs to direct me to the departure lounge, I made my way there. The first thing that annoyed me is the lack of seats for the sheer number of people in the departure lounge. It looked horrendous, everyone looked so squashed and the seats were also very small. I trawled around and spied a TGI Fridays that did have space and seats, but before I decided to go in I thought I would familiarise myself with the ladies.
The ladies once I found them, was where I got my next shock. It wasn’t because they were dirty but just because I had to queue for the pleasure. I have never had to queue for the loo at East Mids! I really found this strange for such a large (International) Airport, surely they should have plenty of toilets for the volume of people passing through the terminal?
As I went on my travels again, it was apparent that there aren’t a lot of toilets in the departure lounge, the place is filled with shops and eating/drinking venues, but very few toilets and terrible seating arrangements.
There are plenty of screens around for you to look up the status of your flights and once my flight was ready to board I made my way to the relevant gate. Now the facilities by the gate were much better, plenty of seating for the number of people present and toilets. However, this is the area that I spent the least time in the airport, a mere 20 mins waiting for my plane to board.
Surely this standard is more important in the area which everyone will spend most of their wait.
