A night in this bed ain't enough
Review of Swissotel The Howard, London by
Delicate_Orchid
Advantages: Clean, comfy beds
Disadvantages: Initial problems on check in
...deal: The 5 star rated Swissotel for £100 a night! This is about 75%cheaper than their usual rates.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Check-in time is at 14:00, so to make the most of out stay, we got there about 14:45. We were greeted by very friendly staff at check-in.
However, we were informed that our requested non-smoking room was not yet available. The gentleman checked us into a smoking room instead, stating, 'You can always come back if it smells of too ... ...plan to stay at the Swissotel Drake in New York, before the 31st of August you will receive VIP treatment - including an upgrade to a suite and late checkout. (Not like anyone normal can afford that!)
You will have to contact the hotel for deals going on a the time.

Ibis Hotel Euston London
Review of Ibis London Euston, London by
keak123
Advantages: Very close to the station/underground
Disadvantages: none
The Ibis Hotel
3 Cardington Street - NW1 2LW - LONDON - UNITED KINGDOM
Tel : (+44)207/3887777 Fax : (+44)207/3880001
I recently had the pleasure of staying in one of the IBIS hotels.
This one was a minute walk from Euston station, which is so convenient. Also close enough for the famous Bond Street and Oxford Street for some fantastic shopping.
This hotel has 380 climate controlled rooms, 8 accessible rooms a bar, which serves snacks 24 hours ... ...On arriving at the Ibis, you are welcomed by a quite large lobby, which is clean and very bright and welcoming. The bar and restaurant are straight in front of you as you walk through the door, and the reception is to your right. There were 3 members of staff on so the queue was soon dealt with. The staff was very polite and friendly. After filling in your details, you were given your card-key and told which floor your room was on.
Our room was ...

Melia White - Certainly deserves 4*
Review of Melia White House, London by
claire.wizzbiz
Advantages: luxurious, clean, bright
Disadvantages: expensive meals, small room
I stayed here for two nights over a weekend spent visiting friends who live in north london.
We booked through lastminute.com, and like other reviewers, got an excellent deal of £89 per night B&B.
We arrived via tube and found the hotel easily a short walk away. I was really pleased walking into the lobby. It was clean, bright, fresh flowers everywhere - i thought it was beautiful However, having read another reviewer's comments on arriving after ... ...space, i can understand what they meant. I thought it was fantastic, though, arriving with plenty of time to admire the space.
The receptionist was very formal, but efficient. There was no banter or smiles!
The lifts themselves are an experience, and my boyfriend loved them - basically you put your floor number onto a dial which is in front of the lift, the lift arrives and takes you to your destination. I am sure kids and gadget-loving people ...

Hilton Olympia ends up on Medallists' Podium
Review of Hilton London Olympia, London by
andymcf
Advantages: Comfortable, friendly and pretty stylish London hotel
Disadvantages: The movie channel didn't work properly. Minor criticism.
Hilton fan, though I may well appear to be, it was Priceline who, at a very reasonable £45 for the night, selected this hotel for me. Rarely, I was away-from-home-alone at a Meet-and-Greet in London and I'd booked the stay well in advance. The price was exceptional value, and being an Hhonors Gold VIP, I was pleased to have been allocated to the Hilton, even if its location was not entirely convenient for my proposed meeting on the other side of ... ...buses and tubes (ie underground trains), so what the hell? I was a very happy bunny. And then Al Q'aeda (it's alleged) decided to start bombing London - specialising, in a somewhat incompetent fashion, in tubes and buses. I thought long and hard. Do I avoid the terror and stay at home, or do I make a statement and go to meet what turned out to be a group of really nice people who'd congregated from miles and miles away? At the eleventh hour, I decided ...

Needs it's star rating reviewed!
Review of Thistle Selfridge, London by
Aeris_Cloud
Advantages: V close to Oxford Street and the shops
Disadvantages: Untrained staff, musty smell, bad value for money
My Husband and I stayed here for the weekend (13-15th July 2007), we purchased a theatre package online and this was the hotel chosen for us.
ON ARRIVAL:
Upon arrival at the hotel, it looked very grand from the street and was attached to Selfridges. A top-hatted doorman opened the door for us, and wished us good afternoon. Once we entered the hotel, the welcome stopped there really. Wanting to check in, we approached what turned out to be the concierge's ... ...desk was.
CHECKING IN:
I can confidently say that all the staff manning reception were extremely unqualified in customer service - although I must point out that there were two European girls working at times and they were excellent, showing the English up!
We were asked for our credit card for a £75.00 retainer on the room (although I don't know why as there was no mini-bar or anything else of value we could have destroyed or nicked in the room). ...
