Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel! Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast Disadvantages: Expensive The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far ... ...fresh and clean. The Victoria Park Plaza is excellent for business trips or short luxury breaks. The only thing I will say is that the walls were paper thin and you can hear what is going on in the next room. The man in the next room was a business man and he stayed up on his phone talking till about 3.0 clock which was really annoying because we couldn't sleep. Then when we woke up in the morning the man had the cheek to shout at us for talking. ... Holiday Inn Regents Park Advantages: Central, package deals available Disadvantages: rooms small and food average ...nice bathroom, good bed, the Holiday Inn "menu of pillows" and so on. We ate in the restaurant, reasonably early and almost entirely alone! The food was edible but forgettable it could almost have been anything. For instance my wife had salmon and the sauce was overwhelming. Other than a long queue to check out the place was "fine". It is very clean, well maintained and convenient. melia white house hotel Advantages: central location Disadvantages: none ...and i decided on the melia white house as i thought it looked nice and was in a medium price range. The hotel is conveniently located as it is only about 3-5 minutes walk from the great portland street tube station which means that it is easy to get to other parts of london from the hotel. Also it is not far from regents park and london zoo is a 30 minute walk. We also walked to the camden market as it was only about 10-15 minutes walk from london ... ...get to from heathrow airport as you can take the tube and you 0only have to make one change of tube line. When we arrived at the hotel it looked exactly like it did on the website with the reception area looking grand and having marble counters. Check in was done quick and efficiently although i did have a slight problem understanding the member of staff as he was not english and sounded like he was french but he did speak good english. Radisson SAS Portman Hotel Advantages: Location, Location, Location Disadvantages: Pricey-ish This weekend just gone me and the missus thought we'd go off on a short break in London. We chose the SAS Portman Hotel since its location was fab and the price fell within our budget of £300 for 2 nights. We had heard only good things about this one so we booked at Lastminute and paid £240 for a Superior room with breakka. Or breakfast, in English. If we had booked through the hotel's own website it would be nearer £300. Where is it, then? The ... ...tube station. It has easy access by tube, since Marble Arch, Bond Street and Oxford Circus are within walking distance, and many buses stop nearby. Even night buses! I don't need to tell you how good Oxford Street is for shopping.... but I will. All the major chains are there, plus its home to some of the biggest department stores in the country. Not as good as I had expected Advantages: Good location Disadvantages: Bathroom not terribly clean, fairly small rooms, over-priced for what it is. ...be said that hotels in London can be expensive, and I guess considering my room was technically free it was good value! The rooms are an ok size, for central London but they were basic - for a "luxury" hotel I can't deny that I expected a little more. My room to be fair was just a standard king room but considering this is Hilton's flagship hotel in the United Kingdom I didn't think they were anything special. The Hilton website said that it was ... ...the next time I'm in London I think I'll give the Crowne Plaza a try - although from the website the rooms look a little more dated. The bathroom wasn't very clean, with a hair in the bath and rusty fittings. The hotel provides few toiletries. I do find it annoying that hotels only seem to give you 1 tiny bottle of soap and shampoo per room, a little more would have been great so that it didn't feel as though they had to be rationed!
