Great base for a stay in the west end
Advantages: great location. deliciouus breakfast, polite staff, breakfast in room option Disadvantages: Basic room, plain decor
...break in London.
The Rathbone is in a great location in central London in the heart of the West End so is ideal if you are planning on shopping on Oxford Street, Regent Street, New Bond Street or Covent Garden. It is also near the restaurants and bars in Soho as well as seveal theatres. It's less than 5 minutes walk from either Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Street tubes so really easy to get about.
The hotel has a grand entrance with large chandaliers ... ...polite and respectful. Our room was basic, a medium size with a very basic bathroom with bath with shower over. The was air conditioning in the room but this was a little noisy.
The breakfast could either be eaten in the restaurant or you could choose to have a continental style breakfast in your room by ticking off the items you wanted on a door hanger and placing it outside your dor the night before. We opted to eat in the restaurant and the service ...

The Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf
Advantages: Stunning hotel, big rooms, security is good Disadvantages: Room Service and Reception staff don't care!
The Radisson Edwardian New Providence Wharf is a luxury 4 star hotel. I stayed in this hotel just 2 weeks ago for one night at a price of £150 - I had this on Last Minute.Com as a Top Secret Hotel. I chose this hotel due to the close location to the O2. The location is spot on with fantastic views, little did I know that between the hotel and the O2 is a river! This meant 2 tube rides to get to the O2.
The hotel is very glamouros, clean and has ... ...at 1:55 and they wouldn't allow me to check in - bit mean I thought! Check out is at 11am. They did take my luggage from me while I sat in reception until 2pm. The rooms are very modern with a bathroom that has a shower and a nice deep bath. You have a flat screen tv, access to the internet (you have to pay) and a CD player, alarm and lovely soft lighting. You can't get to any floor in the lift without your room key which means no strangers can wander ...

Stopping at The Gainsborough Hotel.
Advantages: Modern, sleek yet stylish. Disadvantages: I dont live there.
The Gainsborough is a very grand, period, four star hotel, This hotel is in a fantastic location. It is situated in South Kensington and is near to attractions including the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Albert Hall and Kensington Palace. The tube station is close too so if you want to go shopping, you don't have to walk far. It is located in a very nice, safe area. The hotel's staff are very friendly, helpful and professional and they ... ...complimentary tea and coffee in the bar and lounge area and had our bags taken to the room for us.
They have various rooms, which include family rooms and luxurious suites. My twin room was very clean and had a distinctive contempry, modern feel. The hotel room also had good beds and furniture and the interior design gave a high quality finish.
Two adults sharing a standard double room overnight for 1 night on Sat 21st Oct would cost £123.00 and ...

£150? What a disappointment!
Advantages: Close proximity to Leicester Square, plenty of places to eat nearby, friendly staff Disadvantages: Too expensive, horrid bathroom, dodgy TV, nobody with English as a first language
...boards with leaflets advertising other Thistle hotels.
Fortunately I guessed the right way (left) and, after pushing my way through an equally heavy door, I passed down a narrow corridor and found my room on the right. The key card was a bit fiddly, but it worked. First impressions count for a lot and my first thoughts were that the room was big, but old-fashioned. I was underwhelmed. I felt it was old-fashioned in a lazy, rip-off way: the old mahogany ... ...and yet more leaflets advertising Thistle hotels. An extra chair. The bathroom...
God, the bathroom was vile. Old-fashioned is good when there's an element of class and sophistication involved, but the bathroom was anything but stylish. It was awful. If the hotel claims to be following a Victorian theme, then the bathroom most certainly did not fit in. It had horrid pink and white tiles on the floor and walls, shocking grouting, a lime scale-covered ...

Bargain bed!!
Advantages: Cheap! location, clean, open late for check-in Disadvantages: by no means palatial but come on.....
Considering the price of this hotel it is absolutely fantastic. It is located about 100m from Hyde Park and close to Paddington Station and a number of tube stops (central line). It is also easily accessible by car and by foot and there is a public multi-storey near by. The location is good for exploring central London as Oxford Street and SoHo, Kensington, Kightsbridge and Chelsea are not far.
The concierge was open when we arrived at 23.00 and ... ...entrance is relatively smart compared with say a Formule 1 or similar.
The room was clean and adequate. I didn't expect much for the price but was pleasantly surprised really. The twin room was private and quiet. There was a wardrobe, a desk, a bedside cabinet and some lamps along with an LCD TV, an electric heater, tea and coffee making facilities and an en-suite bathroom which again was clean and the shower was warm if not particularly powerful.
