London's first and best boutique hotel
Review of Blakes Hotel, London by matthewsteeples

Advantages: Style, service, attention to detail, discretion
Disadvantages: Some rooms are small

Blakes Hotel is a perfect London base for those seeking style and substance. Some of the rooms might be small, but the unique and amazing taste of perfectionist Anouska Hempel has created a boutique hotel that just cannot be beaten. For those on an extravagant budget, the well run restaurant serves an excellent evening meal that is perfect for those seeking to impress. With a pan-Asian menu that changes daily, be sure to try the lamb or curry if ...
...Chinese Room are the perfect places to entertain over drinks and having held a party there, I cannot fault the impeccable service from George and Octavio. If looking for a hotel in West London and especially if you seek discretion and style, Blakes should be your number one choice. ... Read review

Halkin Hotel
Review of The Halkin Hotel, London by newty1977

Advantages: Luxurious, fabulously located hotel
Disadvantages: Expensive

One of the ultimate high class more leisure orientated hotels within London, which boasts luxuriousness and contemporary modernity. Located between Hyde Park Corner and Victoria, it boasts the splendour of a Belgarvia address, located not too far from the Scottish Embassy. The hotel is all about luxury and elegance, and it's small boutique style with discreet location add to the falvour of the property, which is ideal for a weekend retreat within ...
...many better nights sleep, despite the hustle and bustle of typical London life. The rich aromatherapy throughout the hotel also adds to the salubriousness of the property and generates an all round feeling of relaxation. The hotel's restaurant "Nahm" is Michelin-starred and serves award winning Thai-cuisine. Although, if I am honest, this was not to my personal taste and is one area where sister hotel, The Metropolitan and it's world famous restuarant ... Read review

A Night at the Hoxton
Review of Hoxton Hotel, London by mynameisrui

Advantages: Great location, friendly staff
Disadvantages: none

We recently stayed in the Hoxton Hotel a few weeks ago after getting it in one of their £1 sales (I'll come on to that later) and we loved every minute of it! The hotel itself is still fairly new and calls itself an 'Urban Lodge'. It only opened in late 2006 and for a long time was booked up solid due to a lot of good reviews from the press and customers who managed to get a room there. It is located just by Old Street station with exit 3 being ...
...3 months of so the Hoxton hotel has a £1 sale where they release 5 rooms per night at £1 to be booked over a 3 month period. For example, they had a sale in April where you could book rooms between 1 May - 31 July. They only have 500 rooms available so you need to be quick. They recently had another sale for 1 August - 31 October and all the rooms sold out in about 20 minutes. At the same time as the £1 sale, they also offer a further 500 rooms at ... Read review

Thistle Marble Arch
Review of Thistle Marble Arch, London by meryll83

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: The price it would have been without the special rate!

The location of this hotel was great, right in the city centre at Marble Arch, and as with most London hotels, only a short walk to a tube station. The lobby looked quite grand and you travel up on escalators to get to the check in area. We asked about an upgraded room when we checked in, as I'd read free upgrades were common at the time, but the receptionsit was quite non-plussed and said we'd have to pay extra for this - we left it. The room ...
...be well cleaned other than a sock that was hanging on the inside door handle! That did cause us to wonder if the room had actually been cleaned at all, or if it was an oversight. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn't actually mention this, although in hindsight we probably should have done! It was a bit of a trek from the lift to our room, but we didn't really mind this. Breakfast was really good, an all you can eat buffet style, and ... Read review

Berners Hotel, London
Review of Berners Hotel, London by meryll83

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Condition of the Room and Corridors

The location of this hotel was good and breakfast was nice. The rooms were quite small and the floorboards in the room and the corridors creaked an awful lot. I wasn't sure how clean the room was, maybe due to the decor, it had a dusty, musty kind of appearance. The tiling behind the toilet handle was all cracked and the bath wasn't the cleanest I've seen. We booked the hotel on a special reduced rate and I'm glad we did, as this was no four star ... Read review
