Halkin Hotel
Advantages: Luxurious, fabulously located hotel Disadvantages: Expensive
One of the ultimate high class more leisure orientated hotels within London, which boasts luxuriousness and contemporary modernity.
Located between Hyde Park Corner and Victoria, it boasts the splendour of a Belgarvia address, located not too far from the Scottish Embassy.
The hotel is all about luxury and elegance, and it's small boutique style with discreet location add to the falvour of the property, which is ideal for a weekend retreat within ... ...many better nights sleep, despite the hustle and bustle of typical London life. The rich aromatherapy throughout the hotel also adds to the salubriousness of the property and generates an all round feeling of relaxation.
The hotel's restaurant "Nahm" is Michelin-starred and serves award winning Thai-cuisine. Although, if I am honest, this was not to my personal taste and is one area where sister hotel, The Metropolitan and it's world famous restuarant ...

London's first and best boutique hotel
Advantages: Style, service, attention to detail, discretion Disadvantages: Some rooms are small
Blakes Hotel is a perfect London base for those seeking style and substance.
Some of the rooms might be small, but the unique and amazing taste of perfectionist Anouska Hempel has created a boutique hotel that just cannot be beaten.
For those on an extravagant budget, the well run restaurant serves an excellent evening meal that is perfect for those seeking to impress. With a pan-Asian menu that changes daily, be sure to try the lamb or curry if ... ...Chinese Room are the perfect places to entertain over drinks and having held a party there, I cannot fault the impeccable service from George and Octavio.
If looking for a hotel in West London and especially if you seek discretion and style, Blakes should be your number one choice. ...

Home Base for Traveling with a Grandchild
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, pleasant ambience, elbow room Disadvantages: Lacks many traditional hotel facilities and services, such as room service and baggage storage
...trip planner, I selected the New Linden, a small hotel straddling Bayswater and Notting Hill, not far north of Kensington Gardens. The location was handy for buses and the tube, easily facilitating our forays around and about London.
In the end, that choice came down to space and price. I wanted a space that would provide both our grandson and us with an opportunity for privacy, and I wanted to do so without paying the usual London prices for a ... ...of our quad.
The New Linden is listed on various hotel sites at 2, 3, or 4 stars. Take your pick. I venture to approximate 3 stars based on its lack of urban hotel facilities. In the final analysis, however, it’s the experience that counts. Based on our experience, we would happily return to this charming hotel. It combines convenience with value for money, and we left with happy memories. Who could ask for more? ...

Ibis Euston - good deals to be had
Advantages: Good location, not too noisy, good value if on offer Disadvantages: Slow check in
...for a double room at Ibis Euston on a Saturday in late November. The standard rate advertised outside the hotel is £129 so this represents a good saving. Although we were traveling into and out of Kings Cross we were happy enough to stay at Euston as the hotel is right beside Euston mainline and tube stations and only a ten minute walk from Kings Cross/St. Pancras. There’s a handy little short cut from the main station concourse onto Melton Street ... ...to carry. Ibis Euston compares favourably with other branches of the chain I have stayed in. The rooms are basic but comfortable and I was impressed with the standard of cleanliness. It’s a useful location for several mainline train stations and only a twenty minute walk from the west end if you prefer not to use the bus or underground. There’s very little in the way of additional facilities but chances are if you’re a tourist in London you aren’t ...

Only One Towel? No Wonder The King's Cross...
Advantages: Cheap and central Disadvantages: Bit noisy, bit grimy in places
...a room in this cheapie Travelodge for a too-good-to-be-true £35, turning our mini break into a bargain of a weekend. I hadn't stayed in any London Travelodges before, but the city is crawling with them, and my first tip is to make a note of both the name and address of where you are staying. Walking from Euston this is the second one you'll come to (the other is directly next to the station) but we were coming in the other direction from a brief ... ...but none of the usual Travelodge bedspreads / throws. I actually preferred this: I hate dubious, shiny throws of the kind you get in American motels as I always wonder how frequently they change them. However it did seem unusual to be sitting straight on your quilt in a hotel, though with no other soft seating on offer there was little choice. There were no bedside tables, but we did have bedside lights and bedside controls for the main light, which ...
