Very Hot
Review of Corus Hotel Hyde Park, London by Keynshamkeith

Advantages: good location & cheap for a 4 star hotel even if it is a bit rundown
Disadvantages: very small rooms, masively overheated, watch out for tricky pricing deals

When I look back at my stay in the hotel that is the thing that stands out my wife and I were in an "executive twin" which was one of the relatively fiew with air conditioning this mostly offset the fact that even in July the hotel was heateded like a sauna. A colleague was in much smaller room a "twin" he had no AC and suffered greatly from the heat rvrm eoyj yjr window open the few inches it would go. When I booked the room I opted for the executive ...
...but as it wasnt a huge difference in money decided it was a good bet to keep my wife in a good mood as we were in London for a special ocasion. In the process of booking the "executive rather than the normal twin I missed the small proint that said that this did not include Breakfast so ended up paying an extra £20 per day for breakfast. If it hadnt been for the heat and the iritation at the extra breakfast cost I would have enjoyed my stay at the ... Read review

Remarkably poor
Review of Novotel London West, London by ladymuck12

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: too many to mention

This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had - and I was an air hostess for three years! Staff were appalling, I had to complain to the 'Guest Services Manager' who point blank refused to deal with my complaint and did not even apologise. The staff are lacking even very basic customer service skills. The room was shabby and in dire need of updating. I had to move the bed to find about a months worth of dirt and a used condom under it! The bathroom ...
...around bare foot in. The walls are paper thin, I could even hear the phone ring in the next room. Kids were constantly running up and down the hallway. I called reception asking someone to have a word with them, nothing was done. The maid came into our room three times from 0730 to 0930, despite us having a do not disturb sign up and check out not being until 1100. I found the bar staff particulary lacking in manners. I would honestly rather ... Read review

Excellent Location, Great Rooms, & Friendly Staff
Review of Kensington Close Hotel, London by Expert_City_Dude

Advantages: Great Service, Great Leisure Facilities, Take on special requests (e.g. Roses in room or vegetarian food)
Disadvantages: None

...to be near High Street Kensington station and a range of shops! The check in was relatively simple with extremely friendly staff and a concierge service (to check your bags in early) which was great! We had a room a little larger than the standard, but even seeing a friend's standard room looked to be an average size especially for the rates and location! Our room in fact was great, it had a little seating area also with a table for breakfast where ...
...they even let you pick what you want and send a paper within 10 minutes of ordering!) or the English we had paid for with great service, hot food, loads of choice in quite a nice large restaurant room (senses). The room had a very clean and well decorated shower/bath as well as a Fridge, Ironing Board, a lot of cupboard and walking space and a desk with a nice view out to the street (not sure if Fridge is in the standard rooms though!). It also ... Read review

melia white house hotel
Review of Melia White House, London by mentalchic

Advantages: central location
Disadvantages: none

...and i decided on the melia white house as i thought it looked nice and was in a medium price range. The hotel is conveniently located as it is only about 3-5 minutes walk from the great portland street tube station which means that it is easy to get to other parts of london from the hotel. Also it is not far from regents park and london zoo is a 30 minute walk. We also walked to the camden market as it was only about 10-15 minutes walk from london ...
...get to from heathrow airport as you can take the tube and you 0only have to make one change of tube line. When we arrived at the hotel it looked exactly like it did on the website with the reception area looking grand and having marble counters. Check in was done quick and efficiently although i did have a slight problem understanding the member of staff as he was not english and sounded like he was french but he did speak good english. We then went ... Read review

An authentic cheap motel experience
Review of Silver Ridge Lodge, Salida, Colorado by koshkha

Advantages: Clean, cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: Not a lot of reasons to go there. Not exactly stylish

...review into 'London Hotels'. The Silver Ridge Lodge is actually in Salida, Colorado, USA Right, that's out of the way, let's get on with the review Anyone who's been following our progress through the Rocky Mountains will probably be glad to hear that our mission to find cheap hotels (otherwise known as 'how low can you go without getting infections') is drawing to a close. We had turned east and were heading back towards Denver and our final ...
...instead. Where is the Silver Ridge? The motel was on the outskirts of Salida and not central enough to show up on our guide book map so we weren't entirely sure where we were going. We knew it was on Rainbow Boulevard and when we passed a garage called Rainbow Tyres we guessed we must be getting warm. And sure enough, a few moments later we spotted the sign on the side of the road and turned into the car park. First Impressions? From ... Read review
