A sanctuary in the heart of London Advantages: Very central, well connected, good value, comfortable Disadvantages: none to speak of other than the rooms could be bigger ...London for work or play. The West End theatres are literally round the corner along with all the other central London famous sights. Needless to say transport links are good be it by bus, train, underground, foot or bicycle. Of course driving is not recommended! I found the concierge helpful and polite. The entrance seemed quite grand to me and you immediately felt transported out of the hussle and bussle and into a sanctuary of tranquility. The ... Staff were great Advantages: food Disadvantages: crowed people I took a lot of searching on the Internet to find this hotel, and I must say that at furst, I was put of by the price, but after staying there, I can say that it was the right choice. Located in central London, this hotel offers a wide variety of facilities, with the rooms being more than large, including and en-suite, and double beds. The food here was brilliant and I didnt have to go and find somewhere else to eat. Top Dollar, bottom drawer Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Value, quality, customer service Top price, bottom drawer At £130, it was top price (okay it was pre-Christmas), but for a tiny double room with remnants of a leak from above (or was it streaks of nicotine from its previous smoking room days?). Only very slim people should share that room! The en-suite bathroom was tucked into the eaves and surely wasn't intended for use by anyone over 5'2" . If that was a "superior" room, I'd hate to see anything less. After a night out, the ... ...baguettes, no food was available after midnight. The day was kick-started at 8am by an over eager maid and again at 8.30am, shortly followed by probably the worst hotel breakfast I've ever not eaten. The surly receptionist wasn't in the slightest bit interested in our disapointment and as we took a cab to the recommended car park (Queens), I reflected on the shame that visitors to our great capital get rinsed like this every day. Just about on the right track Advantages: Easy to get to, on-site and nearby parking, close to Euston station, high speed internet access in room Disadvantages: Expensive parking, very small rooms, no Gordons Gin in the bar ...they had gone. The Thistle Euston was found on our behalf, at a rather steep £120 B&B it was this or nothing. Now I've stayed in a few Thistle hotels, and their quality does seem to vary somewhat, so it was with some trepidation that I set off on the 200 mile journey. LOCATION & ACCESS This hotel, as its name suggests, is literally a couple of hundred yards from Euston Station, and about 10 minutes walk from Euston ... ...the front of the London Thistle therefore is very welcoming, more reminiscent of an opulent 4 star outlet rather than its proclaimed 2 stars, the concierge are on hand to assist with luggage and parking.. Remarkably poor Advantages: none Disadvantages: too many to mention This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had - and I was an air hostess for three years! Staff were appalling, I had to complain to the 'Guest Services Manager' who point blank refused to deal with my complaint and did not even apologise. The staff are lacking even very basic customer service skills. The room was shabby and in dire need of updating. I had to move the bed to find about a months worth of dirt and a used condom under it! The bathroom ... ...around bare foot in. The walls are paper thin, I could even hear the phone ring in the next room. Kids were constantly running up and down the hallway. I called reception asking someone to have a word with them, nothing was done. The maid came into our room three times from 0730 to 0930, despite us having a do not disturb sign up and check out not being until 1100. I found the bar staff particulary lacking in manners.
