Copthorne Tara - The Customer
Review of Copthorne Tara Hotel, London by
sianciao
Advantages: Good location, access to tube station, nice/well looked after hotel
Disadvantages: Some of the staff/service is not up to scratch
Getting There:
--------------------
The Copthorne Tara Hotel is conveniently situated a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the Kensington High Street Tube station. This means that getting to and from the hotel is quick and convenient. The Kensington High Street Tube Station is part of both the District and Circle Lines, meaning that you can get to many major and convenient locations by jumping on the tube there (including Kings Cross and Victoria ... ...that while staying at the Copthorne Tara, the district and circle lines are running as unfortunately during my stay they were under maintenance for 2 of the days. In this case the nearest station was Notting Hill, which was around a 30 minute walk away (not good when wearing high heals to go to the theatre). In terms of proximity to the west end theatres, the Copthorne Tara is about a 30 minute (around £15) taxi drive. When getting the tube it took ...

Big disappointment!
Review of Britannia International Hotel, London by
kristinaclay
Advantages: Good location
Disadvantages: Poor standard
My husband and I planned a weekend away to London a few weeks back. Normally we'd stay either in Piccadily or Leicester Square but this time we thought we'd venture out a bit and try somewhere different. The Canary Wharf seemed a good choice as there were also a good selection of shops and restaurants there.
We waited in the queue for 40mins before anyone could attend to us. By this time we were pretty fed up as we just wanted to relax and chill ... ...we have one? The room that we had booked (jacuzzi room) was not available but instead we could have a twin room. A twin room for a couple who've gone away on a romantic weekend together!! So, instead of upgrading us for their mistake they were downgrading us to a smaller room. Of course we kicked up a fuss! In the end they found us a double room on the 12th floor (after previously telling us there were no double rooms left!) and gave us free breakfast ...

A mixed bag - I wouldn't stay again.
Review of Millennium Bailey's Hotel, London by
claire.wizzbiz
Advantages: restaurant, friendly staff, close to tube
Disadvantages: noisy, mouse in room, unclear invoices
This hotel was a mixed bag.
I stayed with a colleague for business purposes. We stayed for one night, mid-week on April 7th 2008. I stayed in a room on the second floor and my colleague was on the first floor.
On the plus side - If you want a hotel close to a tube station, this is perfect. Gloucester Rd was right opposite, 100yds. It was also close to South Kensington which was one stop away on the tube and very nice for shopping.
The double glazing ... ...from the street. Unfortunately my window wouldn't open, it was broken. I didn't report this so just had to live with it.
I booked two single rooms for myself and a colleague, we both got double rooms, which were spacious. The bed was comfortable, linen clean, water hot and the bathroom was clean. The television in the room was very good, lots of channels, new and in working order.
I got an extremely reasonable tariff, £107 for Dinner, bed and breakfast ...

Olde Fashioned Hospitality?
Review of Russell Hotel, London by
helencbradshaw
Advantages: Location, good special deal room rate, large rooms, high standard accommodation, guest services
Disadvantages: F&B may be a little expensive
...situated along one side of Russell Square in the Bloomsbury area of the city was to be my home for my recent short break in the capital. Being in the hotel industry myself, I don't like to pay a fortune for hotels and I booked the hotel about two months prior to our arrival and managed to secure two double/twin rooms at the rate of £85 per room per night, through a contact. However this special rate was also available on the website, and so is achievable. ... ...block at the side of Russell Square and is one of the most imposing hotels within this location. This purpose built building dates from around the turn of the 20th century and its architecture is renaissance in style, with stunning terracotta brickwork. The hotel is large in size, with almost 400 rooms, and many overlook the square, including ours. The original floor to ceiling window frames do open out onto a small balcony area, if you want to absorb ...

Good, comfortable hotel in Kensington
Review of Harrington Hall Hotel, London by
lobourse
Advantages: Location, nice spacious rooms, good breakfast
Disadvantages: A few minor irritants, no free WiFi, facilities not great for a business hotel
Harrington Hall
The Harrington Hall hotel is part of the Spanish nh hotel chain. Situated just round the corner from Gloucester Road tube station near Kensington in central London, the hotel takes up much of the whole block.
= BOOKING =
I was in London for work as part of a large party, so the booking arrangements were handled by the people organising the trip. I have looked at the website, and booking seems very straightforward on there, ... ...hotels in London, the nh Harrington Hall is not bad at all. The room was elegant and comfortable, and the small number of gripes did not completely take away the favourable impression. The staff were efficient, if not the most friendly, and though there were clearly foreign nationals, language was not a problem. ...
