Poor service, tacky interior, otherwise OK... Advantages: Convenient location for Canary Wharf visitors Disadvantages: Poor service, bizarre interior styling I've staid at the Britannia for more than 50 nights over the past few years. The one thing I learned from this is that, actually, the other reviewers of this hotel were not having bad luck. The hotel is spectacularly tacky (think what would happen if you give a big interior design budget to East Enders' Peggy Mitchell) and service is consistently worse than any similarly-priced London hotel. The rooms themselves are quite OK, if you don't mind the ... ...what makes this hotel truly unique is not the interior design but the blend of 'don't care/whatever' attitude of staff and the fact that their booking system is based on chaos theory. It is very common to spend 10-15 minutes (which is long, in real time) waiting to check in. You have a 15% chance of your booking not being found (which is a big risk, in real life) and a near-100% chance of seeing some other guests being driven to desperation because ... Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel! Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast Disadvantages: Expensive The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far ... ...fresh and clean. The Victoria Park Plaza is excellent for business trips or short luxury breaks. The only thing I will say is that the walls were paper thin and you can hear what is going on in the next room. The man in the next room was a business man and he stayed up on his phone talking till about 3.0 clock which was really annoying because we couldn't sleep. Then when we woke up in the morning the man had the cheek to shout at us for talking. ... Good, comfortable hotel in Kensington Advantages: Location, nice spacious rooms, good breakfast Disadvantages: A few minor irritants, no free WiFi, facilities not great for a business hotel Harrington Hall The Harrington Hall hotel is part of the Spanish nh hotel chain. Situated just round the corner from Gloucester Road tube station near Kensington in central London, the hotel takes up much of the whole block. = BOOKING = I was in London for work as part of a large party, so the booking arrangements were handled by the people organising the trip. For a luxury weekend in London Advantages: Wonderful surroundings Disadvantages: Expensive if you have to pay full price ...to London! She chose The Rembrandt Hotel which is situated in Knightsbridge, in fact, it is opposite the Natural History Museum/Victoria & Albert Museum. We did ’hum and ha’ a bit as to whether we should drive up or get the train. At first, the train seemed the better option as London is an absolute nightmare to drive around plus there is that dreaded congestion charge. But then I had a brilliant idea. So, I asked if it would be possible to park my car in one of the company’s two parking spaces (private car park underneath the flat complex) and, as I work for the chairman, I immediately gained permission which saved us quite a considerable amount of car parking fees plus the private car park is just outside the congestion zone too! Hilton Olympia ends up on Medallists' Podium Advantages: Comfortable, friendly and pretty stylish London hotel Disadvantages: The movie channel didn't work properly. Minor criticism. Hilton fan, though I may well appear to be, it was Priceline who, at a very reasonable £45 for the night, selected this hotel for me. Rarely, I was away-from-home-alone at a Meet-and-Greet in London and I'd booked the stay well in advance. The price was exceptional value, and being an Hhonors Gold VIP, I was pleased to have been allocated to the Hilton, even if its location was not entirely convenient for my proposed meeting on the other side of ... ...buses and tubes (ie underground trains), so what the hell?
