Poor service, tacky interior, otherwise OK...
Advantages: Convenient location for Canary Wharf visitors Disadvantages: Poor service, bizarre interior styling
I've staid at the Britannia for more than 50 nights over the past few years. The one thing I learned from this is that, actually, the other reviewers of this hotel were not having bad luck. The hotel is spectacularly tacky (think what would happen if you give a big interior design budget to East Enders' Peggy Mitchell) and service is consistently worse than any similarly-priced London hotel. The rooms themselves are quite OK, if you don't mind the ... ...what makes this hotel truly unique is not the interior design but the blend of 'don't care/whatever' attitude of staff and the fact that their booking system is based on chaos theory. It is very common to spend 10-15 minutes (which is long, in real time) waiting to check in. You have a 15% chance of your booking not being found (which is a big risk, in real life) and a near-100% chance of seeing some other guests being driven to desperation because ...

Home Base for Traveling with a Grandchild
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, pleasant ambience, elbow room Disadvantages: Lacks many traditional hotel facilities and services, such as room service and baggage storage
...trip planner, I selected the New Linden, a small hotel straddling Bayswater and Notting Hill, not far north of Kensington Gardens. The location was handy for buses and the tube, easily facilitating our forays around and about London.
In the end, that choice came down to space and price. I wanted a space that would provide both our grandson and us with an opportunity for privacy, and I wanted to do so without paying the usual London prices for a ... ...of our quad.
The New Linden is listed on various hotel sites at 2, 3, or 4 stars. Take your pick. I venture to approximate 3 stars based on its lack of urban hotel facilities. In the final analysis, however, it’s the experience that counts. Based on our experience, we would happily return to this charming hotel. It combines convenience with value for money, and we left with happy memories. Who could ask for more? ...

The Inn and I
Advantages: centrally located, reasonable room rates Disadvantages: no parking, as it's on a main road some noise is possible
Having attended a conference here before in one of the conference suites, and having stayed overnight at the hotel a few month's ago, I felt it was time to post a review of the Inn on Ciao. ~ The location ~
Jury's Inn Croydon is situated on the A212, Wellesley Road in central Croydon. This is one of the busiest roads in the borough and the hotel is only about a ten minute walk from mainline East Croydon station and the smaller West Croydon station. ... ...hotel, which serve south London, as well as several tramstops nearby making it easily accessible to Wimbledon, amongst other places. ~ On arrival ~ The hotel is only a few years old, and the exterior of the building is clean and modern. There are about 8 or 9 floors of bedrooms in this hotel, with the first floor being given over to conference suites. When you enter, the reception is to the rear of the lobby, with a small seating area for relaxing ...

When cheap means cheap.
Advantages: Cheap, reasonably clean Disadvantages: Facilities not as available as advertised, expensive food, staff are cold
...Internet, we came across The Croydon Park Hotel. Basically the deal was £120 for two nights in a twin room, no breakfast. Normally I am keen to book breakfast but as my sister often skips it, we just couldn't justify the price. For the two of us for two nights breakfast on top would have added a whopping £40 onto our bill.
I booked the hotel via an online agent and was briefly warned that there is a cancellation policy that will charge us should ... ...very short walk from East Croydon rail station and near enough to plenty of shops and restaurants, it could not get any better. From East Croydon there are regular trains going straight into the centre of London, and you can also get direct trains to other places like Brighton. But just setting up a hotel in the right place does not immediately win me over. When you arrive you will notice a couple of beatifully designed tall buildings, one that even ...

A comfortable night or two.
Advantages: Clean, well sized rooms, brilliant location. Disadvantages: Not a brilliant breakfast and lots of stairs.
...range available, it wasnt the best quality in the most comfortable place.
I am not exactly sure of the prices for rooms, it cost me and my boyfriend £70.00 for 2 nights but im sure they will vary with room size, season and breakfast etc.
All in all, the location and rooms themselves were brilliant and secure, the staff were very helpful and polite, the only let downs were the breakfast and the amount of stairs. ...
