Stay again, not likely Advantages: Hyde Park conferences Disadvantages: cost decor rooms and services The Royal Lancaster is a Hotel that overlooks Hyde Park and is a common venue for conferences and the like. At a basic rate of about £250 a night it certainly can only be the conference centre for very major players in the business world. I recently had the displeasure of staying there and I am only glad that someone else footed the bill. I had a basic room with twin beds and a television, a small bathroom and a minibar. There were no tea or coffee ... ...I thought never mind, after a few bevies I would be OK, but even several drinks could not numb the discomfort of both the beds in my room, and the shower was cool at 3 am when I finally staggered into my room. The meal we had as a conference meal was pleasant enough but breakfast was a little stingy in portions and the fresh fruit had seen better days. Overall a lovely stay Advantages: Beautiful viiews, great location, lovely food Disadvantages: At full price it would seem a lot -look for deals The hotel has a good website, with pictures and lots of details, which I found useful when choosing it. I was able to make a booking over a last minute site, which meant the price for a double room was £130. This was fine, but had I paid the full rate I wouldn't have thought it worth it. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from High Street Ken station. The hotel has an impressive facade and a beautiful lobby area. We found staff to be attentive and ... ...Hyde Park, which is right next to the hotel. Perfect for a stroll. Equally the hotel is also close to a bust shopping area, including high street names such as Monsoon, Marks and Spencers etc. Harrods is also walking distance away, as are several of the museums. So the hotel is a great base. The room itself was lovely and all the touches of luxury that you hope for at this cost. We had lunch in the restaurant downstairs. There was an excellent wine ... Not impressed. Advantages: Fantastic location, very impressive looking Disadvantages: renovation work being carried out I have just arrived back from a long weekend in London and I was not impressed with this hotel. The pictures depict this hotel as being very grand, but I'm not entirely sure these pictures are of this hotel. Disadvantages: renovation work is being carried out at the moment, and although it definitely needs it, I wasn't informed of this at the time of my booking. Our first room was extremely small and was not 4* material. I was grateful that the cold ... ...change rooms. The second room was much bigger and we had a lovely view of the air conditioning system, which ironically, didn't actually work in our room. With the mini-bar not being restocked daily and the terrible room service menu - there was a very limited choice available - take my advice and stock up on drinks and food. Some of the best view in London... Advantages: A luxurious hotel in a fantastic position Disadvantages: very pricey ...when my grandparents were visiting London for their 80th birthdays. This was a lovely stay as my grandparents hadn't been to London in years and my grandfather was very keen to ride on the London eye whilst my grandmother was keen for me to find a hotel in which as she phrased it, 'that he will have to dig deep into his pockets for'. She was aiming for nothing less than luxury! Hilton Gatwick - well worth every penny Advantages: in the airport, very high level of service, Disadvantages: expensive, all ways booked up! ...you flights. Gatwick Hilton is by far one ofthe best airport hotels uin the UK. It has actually won many awards for its high level of services. if you are looking for a little luxury to begin or finish off your holiday it comes highly recomended from me.
