What a delight!
Advantages: Location - near to Oxford Circus, Picadilly Disadvantages: none
This hotel was one of the best I have stayed in in London. We booked a standard and got upgraded to a suite. The suite was amazing. Big king size bed, 40 inch plasma tv with sky channels, a seperate desk area, sofa and coffe table, a minibar area, full marble bathroom and walk in closet. Everything you needed was in the room from champagne glasses to an umbrella. I unfortunately cant comment on the standard rooms as we didnt get to see one. They ... ...These have access to their own lounge area where you can enjoy complementary breakfast and afternoon tea.
Staff could not do enough for us. Food fantastic - although expensive but thats what you expect from a 5* in London. We used room service for a midnight snack when we came home and the food was good standard and nicely prepared. We had a continental breakfast included in our rate but decided to go the full hog and offer room service breakfast. ...

Stay again, not likely
Advantages: Hyde Park conferences Disadvantages: cost decor rooms and services
The Royal Lancaster is a Hotel that overlooks Hyde Park and is a common venue for conferences and the like. At a basic rate of about £250 a night it certainly can only be the conference centre for very major players in the business world.
I recently had the displeasure of staying there and I am only glad that someone else footed the bill. I had a basic room with twin beds and a television, a small bathroom and a minibar. There were no tea or coffee ... ...I thought never mind, after a few bevies I would be OK, but even several drinks could not numb the discomfort of both the beds in my room, and the shower was cool at 3 am when I finally staggered into my room.
The meal we had as a conference meal was pleasant enough but breakfast was a little stingy in portions and the fresh fruit had seen better days. The hotel has three restaurants each serving a speciality meal and we had the Thai in the Nipa ...

Hilton Gatwick - well worth every penny
Advantages: in the airport, very high level of service, Disadvantages: expensive, all ways booked up!
...you flights. Gatwick Hilton is by far one ofthe best airport hotels uin the UK. It has actually won many awards for its high level of services. if you are looking for a little luxury to begin or finish off your holiday it comes highly recomended from me. I used to work at Gatwick and we always used to send all of our customers to the Hilton if they needed a place to stay, as soon as you walk through the doors you forget you are surrounded by a bustling ... ...compared to other hotels in the area. they are always clean and of a high standard. it is an expense and there are much cheaper hotels around but it is worth thinking about the costs you are saving on taxis as the Hilton is in the airport itself. ...

Would I stay again? Don't be silly!
Advantages: Unbeatable location Disadvantages: Miniscule rooms, lack of attention to detail, poor customer service.
...were allocated a room at Le Meridien Piccadilly, a property with an official AA five star classification right on Piccadilly Circus. I was delighted. Well, up to a point; that point roughly coinciding with our eventual arrival at the hotel yesterday afternoon.
Several days before we were to stay at the hotel, I decided to ‘phone them and check the room type. I was disappointed to learn that they’d reserved a twin room and asked if a King was available. ... ...tell me, transferred me to Le Meridien’s central reservations department. They were also, apparently, unable to help and suggested that I ‘phoned Priceline, which I immediately did. Priceline were as bemused as me but – all credit to them – were friendly, helpful and efficient. They ‘phoned Le Meridien on my behalf and, after a short delay, came back to me with news that they had secured a King bedded room at no extra cost! Tickety-boo! I relaxed ...

It’s Hip To Be Square – Le Méridien Gatwick
Advantages: Peace and tranquility within a busy airport environment. Beautiful atrium! Disadvantages: Air-conditioning in rooms wasn't great. Building work in progress in the atrium.
...recently found myself at the Le Méridien Hotel, Gatwick Airport. Not, I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit, that I was actually flying anywhere. Nope! It’s just where (for £40 for the room, against a considerably greater rack-rate) the infamous Priceline decided to send us. And when the hotel is as good as this, at that price, I am certainly not one to complain. In fact, the trip turned out to have several advantages. Let me say from the outset, however, ... ...Airport, south of London, this is a superb airport hotel, with only minor faults. There are two hotels on site – the Gatwick Hilton is located at the South Terminal (and I’ll confess that I have a real soft spot for Hiltons), and this hotel, which is linked via a covered walkway to the North Terminal. As both terminals are linked by a free, very efficient and rapid automated transit system, location is not really an issue. You could be at check-in ...
