Putting on The Ritz Advantages: Style, excellent service, great location Disadvantages: Too many tourists The only problem with The Ritz is that being such a landmark it does attract a bizarre mixture of people. The Rivoli Bar is perhaps a bit kitsch for some, decorated with much gold and glitz, but The Palm Court and adjoining lounge bar are sophistication in themselves and ideal places to take elderly relatives to tea or for drinks with clients/friends. The restaurant offers the best of British in terms of a traditional menu and the room is spectacular. ... ...Rooms are excellent and of the high standard one would expect of a hotel of this calibre. Prices are high, but for that you do get the best. The service is impeccable, the staff excellent and their attentive yet discrete manner is most impressive. Swissotel - a good position for holidays and business Advantages: great position, good views, ladies wing Disadvantages: poor call staff, sometimes takes a while to get served drinks in busy period a lovely hotel, this hotel is actually very different from others i have been too. it is in a great position to easily reach the city and the Westend and also has great views over the river if you are on that side. It has a lovely purple bar making it modern but also incredibly comfy, the outdoor area is small but very pretty and does get the sun in the afternoon easily making you forget you are in london. the standard rooms arnt particulary large ... ...are to a very high standard with gorgeous bathrooms and very well looked after. Marriott Grosvenor House Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Cost Currently under-going extensive refurbishment, as the hotel rebrands to a JW Marriott. I have not stayed at the hotel for over 2 years, but the one thing the Grosvenor House has always prided itself on is an extremely high standard of service and a very high attention to detail, which I have found has been extended to me on numerous occasions. Five star experience Advantages: Cental location, excellent serivce, wifi internet, tennis court Disadvantages: Five star prices ...Churchill now managed by the Hyatt is one of the best London hotels. Hotel facilities: famous Cigar bar, recently opened (2005) Montagu Restaurant, one of the best italian restaurants in the city Locanda Locatelli, wi-fi internet, health club, hairdresser, tennis court on Portman Square, attentive security and so on. Rooms are big, clean and really 5 star standard. For a small supplement you can enjoy club lounge facilities with unlimited soft and ... ...this place is well organized. The best option if money is not an issue it to go for a Portman Square view room, on the 8 floor. The best rate you can get is to be found on the hyatt's website. Tea and cakes for 12 please Advantages: Attentive service, delicious food. Disadvantages: A little pricey, the temptation to just keep on eating..... It was my Aunts 60th birthday and as a treat for her and her close female friends and family, we were all invited to Afternoon Tea at Claridges. Afternoon Tea is held daily from 3pm until 5:30pm and this is something you have to book in advance, either over the phone or using the online booking form. As I didn't do this I can't comment on how easy or difficult it was. We totaled 12 and were sat on a long narrow table in a spacious area of the room. ... ...I didn't pay too much attention - sorry! - but it was very ornate, high ceilings, a bit art deco and surprisingly not as 'posh' as I thought it would be.
