The grand-ish Strand
Review of The Strand Palace Hotel, London by
watkins11
Advantages: location, location, location!
Disadvantages: Work in progress
...had might as well make the most of our adventure and booked a show and stay theatre trip. After reading up on the choice of hotels, we opted for the 3 star Strand Palace as it a) looked pretty swanky from the photo, b) was only 5 minutes from the Adelphi where Joseph was playing c) was cheaper than some of the others AND included breakfast! Bargain. Our cab driver was extremely friendly, commended us on our hotel choice and quickly pointed out how ... ...cuts through the streets to get to the Thames bank quickly - oh yes, we had also booked a trip on the London Eye - which would save us a fortune in taxi fare. We were dropped off right at the huge glass frontage of the building and by this stage I was rather pleased with our choice of hotel.
Lobby
After climbing a few steps we found ourselves in a not so large lobby, which contained the concierge desk, 3 elevators with classy gold doors, ...

Review of Best Western Mostyn Hotel, London by
yours_ilze
Advantages: Minutes walk to Oxford Street, Tube & Hyde Park!
Disadvantages: Moody receptionists
...is a must try!!! The best Indian Restaurant! I heard its owned by Sir Michael Caine so its good! And prices are reasonable as well.
There is also a breakfast room where you can get full breakfast which is open seven days a week and the best things is .... you will never guess what it is :) SAUSAGES!!! they have over 50 different kind of sausages from about 20 countries! can u imagine? So in temrs of food - there is a great variety to suit everybody's ... ...already mentioned - bar tenders are great! so is all the other catering and house keeping staff. As for receptionists... its ok but could be better. The problem is that they never smiled when we were there and were always in a rush and stressed out!
The rooms are great! Clean and well furnished. There is a 24h room service as well for your convenience. Television, Internet, Hairdryer, Trouser Press etc. all this you should have in your room.

THAT'LL BE £180 FOR LAST NIGHT
Review of Novotel London Tower Bridge, London by
dabmim
Advantages: clean comfortable
Disadvantages: see review
...best deal and came across Novotel (We’d stayed with them in Brussels). There web site claimed to offer a ‘special internet’ deal of £69 per room per night. This didn’t however include breakfast which was charged extra. I booked thinking we could have breakfast outside the hotel if they charged too much.
Arriving in Pepys street London EC3, the first thing that was noticeable was the position of the hotel. It sat quietly in a back street, just around ... ...the hotel and you are hit by the brightness and cleanliness of the hotel lobby. The whole place shines and sparkles, and with a cleaner wiping the windows and tidying up any mess left behind guest’s, that’s the way it will surely remain?
We arrived at the hotel at about 11.30am and were shocked when we were told we could book in (usual time is mid day). We had rooms next door to each other, on the first floor. Entering the room we found it to be ...

Sorry, how are you spelling Mrs. ?
Review of Ibis London Earls Court, London by
teacosy84
Advantages: price, modern bathroom
Disadvantages: general state of repair and cleanliness, staff language barriers
...you first get to the Ibis you are presented with an oppressing concrete box (although it was raining which didn't help its image...). You head across the rather tired looking foyer to a desk manned by (on our visit) staff who's English wasn't the best. After 25 minutes watching the receptionist look rather confused, tutting and asking us the same questions repeatedly (the lady had apparently no idea how to process booking which had been done through ... ...up to our room via a rickety lift. The corridors reminded me of an old school; in a bad state of repair, threadbare carpet and a funny smell. The room itself wasn't at all bad, quite modern fixtures, in a good state of repair, the bathroom and majority of the living space was clean. The only issue we had was some suspicious looking hairs and stains on the bed. Due to it only being a quick visit we did not try the food, so I cannot comment on that. ...

Excellent Curry - in a Pub
Review of The Tiffin Room at the India Arms, Southsea, Hampshire by
denella
Advantages: Excellent food
Disadvantages: Erratic service
...back to Southsea in 1999, the India Arms was about two minutes' walk from where I lived but I never visited it because my sons went there and it definitely had a reputation as a student pub. On moving back to Southsea again in 2007, I was surprised to learn that the largest room in the pub had been converted into an Indian restaurant called the Tiffin Room which was fast earning a reputation for serving the best Indian cuisine in either Portsmouth ... ...share them amongst yourselves. By the time of my first visit in late summer, however, all this had changed and the menu was organised in the traditional format of starter, main course and dessert. I remember choosing Old Madras lamb chops, unusual for me as I am not a great fan of red meat, but they were absolutely delicious.
My second visit to the Tiffin Room came eight months later, at 7.30 one Saturday evening. My son and his partner had been ...
