A sanctuary in the heart of London
Advantages: Very central, well connected, good value, comfortable Disadvantages: none to speak of other than the rooms could be bigger
...London for work or play. The West End theatres are literally round the corner along with all the other central London famous sights. Needless to say transport links are good be it by bus, train, underground, foot or bicycle. Of course driving is not recommended!
I found the concierge helpful and polite. The entrance seemed quite grand to me and you immediately felt transported out of the hussle and bussle and into a sanctuary of tranquility.
The ...

Top Dollar, bottom drawer
Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Value, quality, customer service
Top price, bottom drawer
At £130, it was top price (okay it was pre-Christmas), but for a tiny double room with remnants of a leak from above (or was it streaks of nicotine from its previous smoking room days?). Only very slim people should share that room!
The en-suite bathroom was tucked into the eaves and surely wasn't intended for use by anyone over 5'2" . If that was a "superior" room, I'd hate to see anything less. After a night out, the ... ...baguettes, no food was available after midnight.
The day was kick-started at 8am by an over eager maid and again at 8.30am, shortly followed by probably the worst hotel breakfast I've ever not eaten.
The surly receptionist wasn't in the slightest bit interested in our disapointment and as we took a cab to the recommended car park (Queens), I reflected on the shame that visitors to our great capital get rinsed like this every day. (By the way, its ...

Express By Holiday Inn London Stratford London
Advantages: Reasonable price, friendly staff, clean public areas and rooms Disadvantages: Basic room, continental breakfast, on main road
...hotels, in keeping with the Express brand. However, the twin room I received was extremely clean and fresh. A small open wardrobe was provided along with tea and coffee facilities. There was a television which had a generous choice of channels. It is possible to "rent" films through the television and the cost of the rental is very reasonable - £3.00 buys you access to a film channel for 24 hours and each film channel runs two films back to back ... ...access was available in the room.
The room did overlook the main road, and I could hear the cars outside slightly but not enough to disturb my sleep. However, i did have a view of Canary Wharf which was great at night.
The bathroom was of a fair size and again was very clean. The hotel provides only limited toiletries - in fact only a hair/hand/body gel dispenser on the wall next to the sink and in the shower so it is best to ensure you take your ...

Apex City of London Hotel - outstanding
Advantages: Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, modern hotel Disadvantages: Slightly out of the way of the West End
We wanted to stay somewhere in central London that was value for money, and found this brilliant hotel for only £69 per night. We booked directly with the hotel itself, and while the system can be a little frustrating the transaction went through smoothly. This was in December 2008, so we didn't expect any decent hotels so close to Christmas to be so cheap. While this hotel is a little out of the way of main attractions it is close to the Tower of ... ...and tube. On arriving by tube, we found the hotel was alittle bit tricky to find, and were saved only by the fact that by boyfriend's phone has sat-nav!
On arriving we were greeted by friendly and efficeint staff. The entrance to the hotel was modern and swish, befitting a four star hotel with marble and stainless tell everywhere. An excellent first impression. Although we were early our room was ready so we headed straight up to dump our bags.

Good, comfortable hotel in Kensington
Advantages: Location, nice spacious rooms, good breakfast Disadvantages: A few minor irritants, no free WiFi, facilities not great for a business hotel
Harrington Hall
The Harrington Hall hotel is part of the Spanish nh hotel chain. Situated just round the corner from Gloucester Road tube station near Kensington in central London, the hotel takes up much of the whole block.
= BOOKING =
I was in London for work as part of a large party, so the booking arrangements were handled by the people organising the trip. I have looked at the website, and booking seems very straightforward on there, ... ...hotels in London, the nh Harrington Hall is not bad at all. The room was elegant and comfortable, and the small number of gripes did not completely take away the favourable impression. The staff were efficient, if not the most friendly, and though there were clearly foreign nationals, language was not a problem. ...
