A sanctuary in the heart of London Advantages: Very central, well connected, good value, comfortable Disadvantages: none to speak of other than the rooms could be bigger ...London for work or play. The West End theatres are literally round the corner along with all the other central London famous sights. Needless to say transport links are good be it by bus, train, underground, foot or bicycle. Of course driving is not recommended! I found the concierge helpful and polite. The entrance seemed quite grand to me and you immediately felt transported out of the hussle and bussle and into a sanctuary of tranquility. The ... Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel! Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast Disadvantages: Expensive The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far ... ...fresh and clean. The Victoria Park Plaza is excellent for business trips or short luxury breaks. The only thing I will say is that the walls were paper thin and you can hear what is going on in the next room. The man in the next room was a business man and he stayed up on his phone talking till about 3.0 clock which was really annoying because we couldn't sleep. Then when we woke up in the morning the man had the cheek to shout at us for talking. ... Sleeping Beauty Motel, London Advantages: Clean, staff polite Disadvantages: Area its located in Not too bad, but in my opinion, its not in such a great part of town. OK if you are parking in the car park then staying put in the hotel, no local sites to see, wouldnt want to be walking around this area after dark. Found it very noisey, the road that its located on is a very busy road and the noise from it is constant. By train, its not far to underground or overground stations. No holiday for me at Holiday Inn Advantages: Conveniently located, well priced, spotless and comfortable Disadvantages: No proper restaurant Holiday Inn - Wandsworth. 1 Trevor has upgraded. Those who know the scrimping and penny-watching that has been part of my character from Scottish schooldays, will know that my regular trips to London all target the cheapest accomodation available. Well, not quite the cheapest - I try to ensure they are flealess, clean and with a bed that accomodates my full frame. Usually Travelodge gets the vote, and I have ladled the praise to them in the past ... ...beat the local Travelodge on price, believe it or not. Well, it was a bit more complicated than that. Members of David Lloyd leisure clubs have (or had until the buy-out) access to members' benefits with other organisations. I don't usually pursue these as you are offered 10% discount, say, off of a full price - which is discounted by 20% everywhere else.! Top Dollar, bottom drawer Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Value, quality, customer service Top price, bottom drawer At £130, it was top price (okay it was pre-Christmas), but for a tiny double room with remnants of a leak from above (or was it streaks of nicotine from its previous smoking room days?). Only very slim people should share that room! The en-suite bathroom was tucked into the eaves and surely wasn't intended for use by anyone over 5'2" . If that was a "superior" room, I'd hate to see anything less. After a night out, the ... ...baguettes, no food was available after midnight. The day was kick-started at 8am by an over eager maid and again at 8.30am, shortly followed by probably the worst hotel breakfast I've ever not eaten. The surly receptionist wasn't in the slightest bit interested in our disapointment and as we took a cab to the recommended car park (Queens), I reflected on the shame that visitors to our great capital get rinsed like this every day.
