LUXURY IN LONDON! Advantages: Brilliant rooms, service, food, internet etc Disadvantages: expensive!!! In the middle of February, I was lucky enough to be whisked away for a long weekend in London with my grandma. I’m a huge fan of west end shows and musicals, and so our trip was booked- we would go and see various different shows. I couldn’t wait to go. One thing I hadn’t thought of before going however was which hotel we were staying in. I reckoned that we wouldn’t be spending too much time in the hotel itself, as we were going to be very busy, ... ...have been happy. I knew the name of the hotel was The Grosvenor, however I didn’t have a clue what its reviews were like, or in fact how many stars it had. Getting to the hotel We had absolutely no problem finding the hotel. We took the train from our hometown, to King’s Cross in London. CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL -acceptable accomodation Advantages: cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: not classy but perfectly adequate overnight, but bed not good CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW 10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition. There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was. This ... ...of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this. I think the hotel just had about 14 rooms in total, so not a busy place. The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and efficient. The room was clean and bright, and although I booked a single, they were all occupied and I was given a double for the same price (£59 but I quoted an online code for a further £5 discount). 1811 Georgian Town House is a truly wonderful English experience Advantages: Excellent customer service Disadvantages: NONE! ...experience of staying (twice) at the very charming 1811 Georgian Town house in Northampton Square, Central London, I would definately recommend it for excellent value for money. The hostess is charming and totally dedicated to ensuring customers have a wonderful experience of staying at the Town house. I was in Central London but away from the hustle and bustle of the City but still close enough to the hub of activities (both socially and professionally). ... ...satisfying individual needs. On the whole, I found my experience very relaxing, safe and thoroughly enjoyable. It certainly took the stress out of visiting the ever busy City of London! Not worth the 5 but a GOOD 4 star property. Marriott Canary Wharf Advantages: Good location. Reputable brand. Delivers a good hotel experience Disadvantages: Could be better. Needs to look to wow the customer. ...look out for a suitable London hotel. This was before I had discovered the InterContinental, which is now my preferred London property, so off I went online to find a suitable hotel. After much searching I found a good deal in Canary Wharf at the Marriott. I had never been to Canary Wharf before and was excited to stay somewhere different. The hotel had favourable rates compared to the city centre and the facilities looked good. After much surfing ... ...are definitely better hotels in London and Canary Wharf, but to be fair the Marriott did deliver, it just didn’t WOW me. I would look at other hotels in the city or the Four Seasons Canary Wharf if you really want a true five star property, if you aren’t that bothered then the Marriott will cover your needs for sure! A room in Romford Advantages: clean, very cheap, usually friendly employees, good shops close by, easy travelling to C. London Disadvantages: no luggage room, no parking ...left to book. I suggested Travelodge Romford because I had been there before. Back then I was satisfied with the hotel and I also quite like Romford as a city. Getting to London We took the Eurolines bus at four in the afternoon and were to arrive in London early next day. The ride was incredibly long as other travellers were picked up from places in Beglium and France, but in the end we arrived at the Victoria coach station at six in the morning, ... ...go to a hotel like Travelodge for the fancy interior. The room was very clean and tidy, which is the most important thing. We had a double bed, a desk and a television. On the table there was tray with tea making facilities, including two cups, teaspoons, little sachets of instant coffee and two teabags. Sugar and coffee creamer were also there. The bathroom was absolutely fine as well.
