CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL -acceptable accomodation
Advantages: cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: not classy but perfectly adequate overnight, but bed not good
CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW
10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court
I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition.
There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was.
This ... ...of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this. I think the hotel just had about 14 rooms in total, so not a busy place. The hotel receptionist was very pleasant and helpful and efficient. The room was clean and bright, and although I booked a single, they were all occupied and I was given a double for the same price (£59 but I quoted an online code for a further £5 discount). There is no lift which was not a problem ...

A Smart New Address
Advantages: Price, Location, Luxury Surroundings Disadvantages: Some rooms are a little bit small, limited food menu
...at this new hotel – Twenty Nevern Square (hereafter referred to as 20NS). Please note the correct spelling, if you are looking for NEVER Square in your A to Z, you will NEVER find it!
I found the hotel on www.lastminute.com, which is actually a bit of a misnomer, as my trip was planned for over two months! The rate quoted was £89. I didn’t actually book with Last minute.com, but I handled it directly with the hotel and booked over the telephone. ... ...the hotel has only about twenty bedrooms, spread over five floors. The Reception area is smart, although quite compact. There is a small lift, which would hold about four persons. A porter appeared from nowhere to take our bags up to our room. Towards the back of the reception, there is a comfortable lounge area, and further back still is the hotel’s Brasserie restaurant, Café Twenty.
Checking in and Checking out were friendly and efficient, and ...

London: Lord Kensington Hotel: Paper Thin Walls!
Advantages: Location Disadvantages: Paper thin partition\stud walls
I have to say that I would not recommend this B&B to anyone (unless you pay no more than £25 per night) This B&B is reasonably decorated (3/5), adequately clean (3/5) (the second room I got I found that the bathroom floor was a bit sticky!), the staff are friendly (Score: 3/5) but unfortunately the sound proofing (Score: 0/5) between rooms is terrible - I could hear lots of "noises" coming through from the adjoining room. This also applies to the ... ...are in your room and also there is a bit of a draft too. (The cars drive round that street all night long!) Also, you can smell smoke, as it funnelled in because the other occupants were smoking out of the bedroom window.
Okay, I don't expect the following to get posted, but it is dam funny: I suppose it didn't help that the couple in the room next door decided go "hell for leather" from about 12 midnight, and because the walls are so thin, it is ...

Home Base for Traveling with a Grandchild
Advantages: Comfortable, clean, pleasant ambience, elbow room Disadvantages: Lacks many traditional hotel facilities and services, such as room service and baggage storage
...trip planner, I selected the New Linden, a small hotel straddling Bayswater and Notting Hill, not far north of Kensington Gardens. The location was handy for buses and the tube, easily facilitating our forays around and about London.
In the end, that choice came down to space and price. I wanted a space that would provide both our grandson and us with an opportunity for privacy, and I wanted to do so without paying the usual London prices for a ... ...of our quad.
The New Linden is listed on various hotel sites at 2, 3, or 4 stars. Take your pick. I venture to approximate 3 stars based on its lack of urban hotel facilities. In the final analysis, however, it’s the experience that counts. Based on our experience, we would happily return to this charming hotel. It combines convenience with value for money, and we left with happy memories. Who could ask for more? ...

Ibis Euston - good deals to be had
Advantages: Good location, not too noisy, good value if on offer Disadvantages: Slow check in
...for a double room at Ibis Euston on a Saturday in late November. The standard rate advertised outside the hotel is £129 so this represents a good saving. Although we were traveling into and out of Kings Cross we were happy enough to stay at Euston as the hotel is right beside Euston mainline and tube stations and only a ten minute walk from Kings Cross/St. Pancras. There’s a handy little short cut from the main station concourse onto Melton Street ... ...to carry. Ibis Euston compares favourably with other branches of the chain I have stayed in. The rooms are basic but comfortable and I was impressed with the standard of cleanliness. It’s a useful location for several mainline train stations and only a twenty minute walk from the west end if you prefer not to use the bus or underground. There’s very little in the way of additional facilities but chances are if you’re a tourist in London you aren’t ...
