Hilton Olympia ends up on Medallists' Podium Advantages: Comfortable, friendly and pretty stylish London hotel Disadvantages: The movie channel didn't work properly. Minor criticism. Hilton fan, though I may well appear to be, it was Priceline who, at a very reasonable £45 for the night, selected this hotel for me. Rarely, I was away-from-home-alone at a Meet-and-Greet in London and I'd booked the stay well in advance. The price was exceptional value, and being an Hhonors Gold VIP, I was pleased to have been allocated to the Hilton, even if its location was not entirely convenient for my proposed meeting on the other side of ... ...buses and tubes (ie underground trains), so what the hell? I was a very happy bunny. And then Al Q'aeda (it's alleged) decided to start bombing London - specialising, in a somewhat incompetent fashion, in tubes and buses. I thought long and hard. Overall a lovely stay Advantages: Beautiful viiews, great location, lovely food Disadvantages: At full price it would seem a lot -look for deals The hotel has a good website, with pictures and lots of details, which I found useful when choosing it. I was able to make a booking over a last minute site, which meant the price for a double room was £130. This was fine, but had I paid the full rate I wouldn't have thought it worth it. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from High Street Ken station. The hotel has an impressive facade and a beautiful lobby area. We found staff to be attentive and ... ...Hyde Park, which is right next to the hotel. Perfect for a stroll. Equally the hotel is also close to a bust shopping area, including high street names such as Monsoon, Marks and Spencers etc. Harrods is also walking distance away, as are several of the museums. What a delight! Advantages: Location - near to Oxford Circus, Picadilly Disadvantages: none This hotel was one of the best I have stayed in in London. We booked a standard and got upgraded to a suite. The suite was amazing. Big king size bed, 40 inch plasma tv with sky channels, a seperate desk area, sofa and coffe table, a minibar area, full marble bathroom and walk in closet. Everything you needed was in the room from champagne glasses to an umbrella. I unfortunately cant comment on the standard rooms as we didnt get to see one. They ... ...These have access to their own lounge area where you can enjoy complementary breakfast and afternoon tea. Staff could not do enough for us. Food fantastic - although expensive but thats what you expect from a 5* in London. We used room service for a midnight snack when we came home and the food was good standard and nicely prepared. location, location, location Advantages: Right where you want to be in London Disadvantages: It is not the Ritz!! ...stay in Central London. The Holiday Inn Mayfair is 50 metres from Piccadilly right opposite the front doors of the Ritz. Less than five minutes walk from Bond Street, and two minutes from Fortnum and Mason. Green Park underground is no more than 30 seconds from the hotel entrance. It is right in the heart of Mayfair with world famous restaurants literally only seconds away. If its location you are after this hotel has to be the one. Whilst it is ... ...itself is a mid range Holiday Inn (3*) with nothing too pretentious. We stayed in a superior room which was a decent size and included omplementary newspaper and soft drinks with robes, complementary toiletries and slippers in the bathroom.
