Crowne Plaza St James - A Great London Hotel Happy to See You

Advantages: Great Location. Excellent standard of service. Relatively good value for London.
Disadvantages: No Pool. That's about it!

...the four to five star Crowne Plaza, and the three to four star Holiday Inn) and am a member of their award-winning “Priority Club” loyalty scheme, so I decided to use my accumulated points to redeem a “Reward Night” and stay for free. The hotel is on Buckingham Gate, with extensive frontage featuring an attractive red and white brick façade with decorative arches, reminiscent of Florentine architecture. GETTING TO & FROM The hotel is in the ...
...didn’t actually stay at the Crowne Plaza on that occasion. Everything about her birthday was a surprise – she had no idea where we were dining, what we were seeing at the theatre or where we were staying – so it was a lovely surprise for her when we arrived for our stay. FIRST IMPRESSIONS First impressions were excellent. The hotel has an impressive entrance, replete with doorman and red carpet and the reception staff were very friendly and ...

The Hilton without a chihuauhua or a range of perfumes

Advantages: Good rail connections, good for the Excel or London City Airport, but not too remote for the city
Disadvantages: It's expensive but by London terms, you get a lot for your money.

...there's a different side to Hilton in the new Millenium; a funkier and more cutting edge design-led style that's quite unlike their 1980s and 1990s image. I've been staying in Hiltons for about 20 years and I rarely regret it but there's a clear difference between their 'revamped' older hotels and their made-to-measure newbies. When you find a Hilton where everything is as it was designed to be and not where they've modified something older and tried ...
...is to check out the Hilton in Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf Canary Wharf is not like 'real' London so if you are looking for the old world charms of the city and your mental image is based on scenes from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, don't go to Canary Wharf. This is London's area of ultra-modern high-rise living and working, built on what were once rough areas of the docklands that were so unattractive that I'm sure I once read that Stanley ...

You Can't Polish A Turd.

Advantages: location
Disadvantages: jaded, numbers of guests

***Why The St Giles?*** Back in September 2007 my wife and I had decided we would like to go to London for the weekend and at the same time take in a show. After further investigation, we also realised that The Terracotta Army was on show at The British Museum and a Tutankhamun exhibition at the 02 Arena so we wanted a hotel that was adjacent to most things on our to do list, close access to Euston as well as having easy access to the tube. We chose ...
...google search we did, had some decent reviews, offered an all in one price for the hotel and a show and was in a fabulous location. ***Location*** They say the three most important things for a hotel is location, location, location but I feel that location is relative. After all, an establishment cannot be located everywhere but the St Giles succeeds in being as good a location for a hotel as any I have ever been to. The location is without a doubt ...

Holiday Inn Regents Park

Advantages: Central, package deals available
Disadvantages: rooms small and food average

...nice bathroom, good bed, the Holiday Inn "menu of pillows" and so on. We ate in the restaurant, reasonably early and almost entirely alone! The food was edible but forgettable it could almost have been anything. For instance my wife had salmon and the sauce was overwhelming. Other than a long queue to check out the place was "fine". It is very clean, well maintained and convenient. For those of us not used to London it may be even be above the ...

Review of Holiday Inn London - Regent's Park, London

I never thought I'd stay at The Hilton, but...

Advantages: Virtually right next-door to Paddington Station. Clean. Classy.
Disadvantages: Too bombastic, too expensive... The connection to Paris Hilton.

...seemingly endless brochures for other Hilton hotels and discovering that it cost £15 to use the internet got me pinching not only tea bags and body wash but coffee, sweeteners, milk and shower caps. Do I feel bad? No, because thinking of Paris Hilton and all her money is making me want to rip out the desk and stuff that in my case. I daren't look at the wine list or think about room service (available around the clock, but at what price?). Telephone ...
...for London hotels without the Hilton reputation and remember that you don't have to eat or drink here. True, it's over-done and ostentatious with its famous revolving door and very grand chandelier, but there can be no doubt that it's extremely convenient geographically. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. There's a post office the other side of the train station and a convenience store across the road. I didn't feel pressurised into tipping ...
