I stayed for a business conference/exhibition - the company managed to negotiate a deal for £130 B&B delegate rate - but was quoted £195!!!
Advantages - in the heart of London, next to Oxford Street - Excellent internal decoration - great foyer - Very modern bedrooms/decoration - Gary RhodesRestaurant on site - I've eaten here before - great food but expensive/over rated! - Great bar - Great Business facilities - conference rooms/facilities - Multi-lingual staff - Great breakfast (again expensive if you were buying it separately) - Lots of rooms - plenty of availability
Disadvantages - Expensive! But this is what you expect for a London 4 star hotel - try and get an internet deal/last minute booking or if you are travelling on business a company deal
- Room decor - a) safety green light in the bedroom - what a nightmare!!!! You could not turn it off and it came through the bathroom green glass door and glowed in the corner of the room! A wardrobe mirror was opposite the bathroom and it bounced off the mirror into the opposite corner of the room. I moved the mirror and it glowed in the corner! I eventually placed a towel over the light (stayed for a few minutes to see if it was a fire hazard and it wasn't) and was happy! b) Cooling effect of the red plastic lights also in the room was annoying! One you got into bed, turned the lights off....stopped the glowing green light you then heard a cracking sound!!!!! I eventually found out when checking out that it was the plastic from the red lights cooling down!!!!!!
- No parking facilities But you get a discount from the local NCP car park
- Congestion Charge If you arrive/depart within the congestion charge times - you have to pay the £8. It's just on the edge of it. Sainsburys just round the corner sells the tickets - take cash and queue at check out 1.
- Waiting Time to check in/check out For such a huge foyer, there was not enough staff on checking in/checking out guests - I had to wait 10 minutes when I arrived and 30 minutes when I left
- Staff Appeared to be a little disorganised - maybe there were a lot of new starters when I stayed, although helpful they were not efficient particularly at the concierge when leaving/collecting items
