...the mod-cons. After all, this was our first time in Paris, and we did not really intend on being in the room that much. Just to sleep to recharge our batteries, ready for a new days exploring.
After researching long and hard, we settled upon the Londres and Anvers hotel, which is in the Monmartre region of Paris. Now, this area is also very close to what is known as the Parisien red light district, so first thing first, this hotel may not be the most suitable for families. However the hotel itself is very well located, as it is literally two minutes walk from the Gard du Nord, which is one of the largest train stations in the city. We were able to get a train from Charles de Gaulle, to the Gard du Nord for very little, and the hotel was in sight of the main entrance to the station. This was good for us, as we did not really have a clue where...

Advantages: A lot to see & do, has something to offer for everyone Disadvantages: Too much to see and do, can be exhausting, expensive hotels
...of feels like you are going back to a place you have been to before. When I was young I remember seeing TV shows about how kids grew up in NYC and it felt very distant from my own upbringing. I also remember seeing movies like "The Warriors" and of course I wondered if this gave a true impression of the city. Well, as I have gotten older I have of course come to learn and understand that there are a lot more to NYC than the negative things the press often focus on.
Finding a hotel in New YorkNew York is obviously a huge city so hotels come in all price categories (but mainly in the upper ones :-) and are spread all over the city. So we had to decide which price class to go for and which area to stay in. We looked into quite a lot of different hotels and guesthouses but in the end we booked a room at Hotel Thirty Thirty. This hotel might...

...Just got back from a 2 night 3 day stay at the New York and it was great! Hotel is in a excellent location, a 2 minute walk from the Disney Village and only 5 minutes from the Disney Parks. Check in was 3pm but the hotel allowed us to check in at 10:30 am. We stayed in the Gramercey Park part of the hotel, rooms were clean and spacious, with excellent facilities, nice view of the Disney castle from our room, there is a safe in the room free of charge. Breakfast is included and is continental style but also serves bacon, sausages and scrambled egg, I think this is something to do with the hotel being American themed? Staff at the hotel are great, very helpful and polite. The hotel also has an ice rink through the winter which you have to pay for but worth it. Mickey has his kids disco in the hotel reception each evening at 8pm. The hotel...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
If you want to stay in Central New York then this is the hotel to book. It is actually IN Times Square! It's a huge modern hotel with over 45 floors so some of the views are great. There is a bar at the top which is a lovely place to have a drink,... more
