This place should not be confused with the "Lokal" Roman Loos in the Trans-Danubian Hinterland which is our regular destination after indoor cricket training. Loos bar is located just off Kärntnerstraße on a sidestreet (the Kärntnerdurchgang), only 50 metres away from Stephansplatz.
A lot of people like it to start off an evening but personally I have tended to head there at the end of a night, as it is open until 4am every day of the week (most bars will often shut around 2am during the week)
Loos Bar was designed by Adolf Loos around the start of the 20th century, and its design is part of the appeal of this bar. The bar is actually very small but there are lots of mirrors on the walls, creating the deception of the bar being bigger than you think it is. The interior is mainly in marble and wood, and the bar is instantly recogniseable from the outside, with a stained glass stars and stripes sign.
Whilst the bar does serve beers, it is really best known for its cocktails, and whilst they are good you clearly are paying for its location and its reputation. When in here with friends recently, they were denied a beer in the evening, although whether this was a ploy to try and get them to go elsewhere or is genuinely a rule I can't say.
The drinks are quite pricey and if you intend to buy a round of cocktails, you may either end up running to the cash-machine, or paying via credit card, the latter option being preferable. Fortunately They do take most major credit cards so it shouldn't be a problem. The clientele of this place can be a bit stuffy, and this is certainly a place to perhaps meet other people at and to then move on from.
Advantages: Near SadlersWells and West End Disadvantages: Not many. Had to wait a short while for a table.
...After a day at the London Metropolitan Archives I wandered down Exmouth Market and found The Ambassador Restaurant
I was drawn in because it looked buzzy.
The food was great. A first I thought the portions were a little small, - but believe me they had got it right.
I had fresh fish and then chocolate pudding! It must have been made then and there and oozed chocolate and arrived with in house ice cream.
I was impressed by the friendly staff especially at the bar. If you go you must try the rhubarb sherbet cocktail, created by the lovely Bar Manager!
Also the toilets were spotless. How many times times have I been to a nice restaurant and then felt the loos had been neglected!
In my opinion, it was good value for money and have decided to return there with friends in the near future....

Advantages: Those Public Rooms Disadvantages: Standard Rooms small, but hay that was our choice and your all the same at breakfast
...later the Hotel Entrance on the right.
The Hotel has a revolving Door, but there is a small door on the left if you do not like revolving ones, or have a large case.
You then are in a large lobby with the Reception Desk on your right, the staff are very friendly and check in very quick, you are given two Door Keys (Electronic Card type) and your TV remote control.
There are Lifts but as only on first floor and hand luggage we used the Stairs.
Along the Ground floor corridor it is first flanked either side with two large very comfortable lounges with Chairs tables and News Papers available. Both lounges have Bar Press Bells to summon the Staff from the bar, very efficent.
There are then Ladies/Gents Loos further along the Corridor. Also the Bar although pleasant could do with a bit more decortaion, perhaps some pictures. It...

...We have booked to go to the same site in the vendee area of France for the third year running this year. We go to La Garangeoire site in St Julien des Landes. We first went there when our youngest child was just three and our oldest seven.
It is a beautiful site with something to please everyone apart from possibly older teenagers although the few we saw last year seemed to be having fun.
Our children love it, it is fairly quiet and very safe especially for younger children. The pitches for both mobile homes and tents are large and loo blocks etc always clean.
The bar staff are very friendly and there is a very good takeaway where you can get restaurant meals to take back to your caravan or tent.
We stay in a mobile home which is a good deal bigger than most apartments with two separate bedrooms and proper loo and shower. Each one...

First things first - this bar looks superb. Set in an old bank building on Collingwood Street about 50 yards from Newcastle Central Station, it's all ornate stonework on the outside and super-high ceilings and pillars within. If you visit during the day... more
