I have to say that I would not recommend this B&B to anyone (unless you pay no more than £25 per night) This B&B is reasonably decorated (3/5), adequately clean (3/5) (the second room I got I found that the bathroom floor was a bit sticky!), the staff are friendly (Score: 3/5) but unfortunately the sound proofing (Score: 0/5) between rooms is terrible - I could hear lots of "noises" coming through from the adjoining room. This also applies to the windows of which you can hear the cars like they are in your room and also there is a bit of a draft too. (The cars drive round that street all night long!) Also, you can smell smoke, as it funnelled in because the other occupants were smoking out of the bedroom window.
Okay, I don't expect the following to get posted, but it is dam funny: I suppose it didn't help that the couple in the room next door decided go "hell for leather" from about 12 midnight, and because the walls are so thin, it is like you're in the center of the action! They also decided to turn there TV on in some vein attempt to drown out the noise! As I am quite a patient guy, and they got to do what they gotta do, i figured I would just wait. By 12.05 it was all over! Unfortunately, 20 minutes later it started up again, this time a little bit more vicious (heard a few slaps)! Ok, furry muff - fair play to the guy - "now GO TO SLEEP". However, another 15 minutes later it starts up again, and this time they are coming through the wall - from the brutal pounding he was giving her you could tell from the noise that it was quite obvious that they had decided to change positions - yep: doggy style - you could hear her hands on the wall and from the sound of things she was obviously bracing herself!
It is now 1am, and I decided that enough is enough and that I will be changing rooms, so I went down to the guy in reception to request a new room. After 5 minutes of trying to wake him, he instead suggests that he would phone up and tell them to be more considerate, but I pointed out, and I said it in these exact words: "Look mate, you can't do that - you're gonna put him off his stroke man! It's not their fault that the sound insulation in your hotel is RUBBISH!" Anyway, after about 10 minutes of arguing with the guy, I bullied him into allocating me a different room on the floor above and off to the right!
However, after that I found it quite hard to get off to sleep - but at least I wasn't where all the action is!
At 3 am, I heard an altercation between between porno room and the one on the other side of their room next door which involved the couple from the quiet room and the woman of that room imitating their sex noises in between a slanging match that lasted about 15 minutes - basically shouting at them for being noisy bugg3rs. Anyway - as I was on the floor above, I was far enough away for this not to bother me, but could just about hear them ripping shreds out of each other - thankfully I wasn't in my original room where I would have been able to hear this slanging match like I was one of the partipants!
I did ask reception for a £20 good will gesture to compensate me for my sleepless night, but they weren't having any of it. And because they ask you to pay up front when you actually check in, I can now see why! For the record, I paid a total of £59
