commissioned to mark the 250thanniversary of his birth is representative of our greatest naval hero as he was dressed at the Battle of Trafalgar, shortly before his tragic death. The dark navy undress coat (as he usually wore at sea) shows the four orders he received during his lifetime attached to the left breast, with Flag Officers buttons and gold lace shoulder epaulettes to the rank of Vice Admiral. This is worn over a double-breasted Marcella waistcoat, regulation breeches and white silk stockings. The detailing is very precise, even down to the attachment of his empty right sleeve. He stands 15 tall on a wooden base made from chunks of oak salvaged from his flagshipHMS Victory, during refit - each one is unique.

Joseph Holts is the best pint of bitter i have ever had, and ive drunk a few. Quite personally i think that the lager is awful, but then again i dont drink much larger, im bitter and ale man myself. Joseph Holts is its own brewery so in the pumps is its own beer. This is probably why it is so cheap. I cant write enough how good the bitter is. At first i was a bit reluctant to try the bitter as i didnt like the lager (i drank lager first). Once tasted ive never gone back.
Enough on the brewery and back onto the pub...
The pub inside is a traditional looking pub, with a huge carpeted lounge area, with many little snugs for the private conversation. There are many places to sit and drink.
The vault is where i usually sit. Here there is a tiled floor and leather type benches and stools to sit on. This is open plan with no little areas to hide away in.
Within the vault is a jukebox. This is £1 for 5 songs or 50p for a choice of 3 songs. There is a great range of all music in the juke box to cater for all tastes. This can be heard around the vault, but not to loud as to not hear your converstion.
The staff are brilliant and really helpful. They seem to ensure you enjoy your time in the Lord Nelson. The bar staff serve everyone as quickly and efficient as possible while maintaining 100% customer services. The tables and ash trays are always cleared away and kept on top of. There is nothing worse than trying to enjoy a pint and a chat, while ash trays are full, crisp packets are lying around and empty glasses are in the way. This is a great point to the Lord Nelson. They always clear the tables, ash trays and collect glasses regually.
Which brings me onto the bar snacks.....
I love my bar snacks when im in a pub. Here there is not only the usual 3 flavours of crisps and 2 types of nut. There is a greater selection. I always love the chilli flavoured nuts or BBQ flavoured mini chedders.
As usual for a local pub, last orders is at about quarter to 11pm and everyone must ensure drinks are finished.
There are plenty of taxis available around the area, just ask the staff for a number. After crawling out of the pub you can walk around the corner and purchase a burger/ kebab etc....
The only problem is, on hot days there is no place outside to sit and enjoy your drink.
This is a lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere. There are all types of people who come in here. As there is no dress code, you can wear whatever you wish and feel at home.
Advantages: fantastic staff Disadvantages: small carpark
This hotel is right on the sea-front, so near that there is only one small patheway between it and the beach. The downstairs bar is decorated with a beachy/shippy sort of theme, and the doors open onto a decking area - great on a sunny day. They provide a substantial bar menu. Staff are friendly.
The restaurant is comfortable, and the food good. For private functions, you can hire separate rooms. I found the staff very accomodating. Vegans and vegetarians are catered for with no fuss, and menu options can be adapted to suit special diets ie 'can I have the xxx without xxx' was no trouble at all.
Rooms start at £65 per night.
This hotel is at the edge of the town, in the conservation area of Deal. Running down into the town from the seafront are a maze of little streets only one car wide. LordNelson and Lady Hamilton stayed in this ...
Advantages: A fun place to visit for all the family Disadvantages: Can be too over crowded
Every time I visit London, I always make my way to Trafalgar Square! It's justone of the many places I enjoy visiting in the big city - and it's free!!
Not only do you get pigeons in their thousands flocking here, but people come here in their droves too. Would they still visit Trafalgar Square if it was pigeonless? As you are well aware, it is famous for the feathered little creatures!
There's a statue of LordNelson there, and 2 huge stone statues of lions. Round about Trafalgar Square is the hustle and bustle of the daily life there with the famous red buses and black cabs.
This place is also well-known for the people who flock there on New Year's Eve. I thought I'd give this a go one year! So, tagging my friend with me, we made our way up to London. We got to Trafalgar Square for about 10pm, and found a comfortable ...
