Walk of Fame!!
Review of Los Angeles in general by LIZKEMPO

Advantages: Great to see the stars and Hollywood sign
Disadvantages: Only need a fewdays, not safe at night

On my recent round the world trip LA was my first destination, I have always wanted to go to LA and walk down the star studded Hollywood Walk of Fame and this was my perfect opportunity! I spent a week in LA although I would say that is probably too long, you only really need a few days to see the main attractions and it is a good place to visit as part of a road trip in the USA, maybe adding a stop or two in Vegas or San Francisco as well. Being ...
...the Hollywood Boulevard but accommodation is available for all budgets. I was told that unless you have a car it is very hard to get around LA but I have to say thanks to the helpful staff at our hostel we managed just fine by public transport. Trains and buses run daily and are cheap and easy to use as long as you know where you are headed. The main attractions in Hollywood are: Universal Studios (which I have already reviewed in great detail) ... Read review

Los Angeles: Bigger Than Life
Review of Los Angeles (California) by grape_nehi

Advantages: A World Class City
Disadvantages: Don't try walking, the bus, or light rail

Los Angeles: Bigger Than Life Let me state it right off at the start: I love Los Angeles. It is a great city to visit or to live in … IF you know how to get around, and how to put up with the eccentricities of the place. Getting Around L.A. Originally, Los Angeles was a much smaller city. Long Beach, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Fe Springs….those were all separate towns a long way from L.A. You reached those towns ...
...made a conscious decision: Los Angeles would be a megalopolis connected by a system of freeways…people living in the megalopolis would, of course, be wealthy and every person would own a car. So, during much of the 1950's the streetcar lines were ripped up and freeways laid down. All those small, independent, villages and towns became virtual vassals of Los Angeles. The towns and cities grew together until now, the entire Los Angeles basin is one ... Read review

Nowhere are there more ways to sit in traffic
Review of Getting around in Los Angeles by LukeParker

Advantages: Many forms of transportation
Disadvantages: Way, way too many cars!

...walking distance. Unfortunatly getting on that line meant 2 or more hours to get anywhere. But that's ok, leaving Long Beach in your car mean tthe same thing! And you better plan on coming back during work hours, or you'd have to pay to park in your own zip code. Ok, I'll tone down the rant for a moment. LA has nearly infinate busses, since the insurance rates are extremely high there (the nation's highest by far) the city is somewhat divided by ...
...a car but since I lived a block from the beach without my own garage, I might as well not have. I could only park it within walking distance during work hours. Their train/subway system is extensive, since this city is so incredibly spread out it is quite impressive how much of the sity it serves. There are different lines (blue, green, red, yellow, and gold) that cover different parts of the city and run late into the night every day. There are ... Read review

Trip of a lifetime.
Review of Los Angeles in general by Zahoori

Advantages: So many!
Disadvantages: Too pricey!

Opening. I was lucky enough to experience one of the most breathtaking cities in the world! I travelled to LA over 3-4 years ago, so things may have changed by then but I'm going to write about my view, about 4 years ago. I went with my mum, brother and 2 other relatives. We stayed with some friends of ours which was a real fun spoiler as I really wanted to stay at a hotel as I've heard their hotels are superb! Anyway we stayed around 5 days (very ...
...felt like forever. We enjoyed ourselves as much as possible. We treated everyday as the last. My 1st day there. I bear in mind the first few hours we had arrived at LA, after unpacking and taking a short break, we were all dying to go to the near by beach, that was around 10-15 minutes away. We were lucky enough that we had arrived in LA at daytime, which meant that it was sunny, which meant that we could go to the beach! Soon we were making sandcastles ... Read review

A dream come true!!
Review of Los Angeles in general by ZuZuZu

Advantages: AMAZING place!!!
Disadvantages: NOOO disadvantages what so ever!!!--Except that it's expensive!

L.A is probably one of the finest places I have been to. I went there quite a long time ago in 2001 (I think???) I went there with my mother, my brother, my mothers closest friend and her son which is also my brothers closest friend, Confusing, huh? (I was the only one without a friend there...:(...Oh well, I stuck to my bro & his friend!!!) Anyways-to the point- the journey there was by plane and god it took soooooo long-Approximately 12 hours!!! ...
...remember much but one of my unforgettable memory was that the first thing we all done when arriving there- obviously apart from getting to our hotel room and unpacking- was going to the downstairs swimming pool we had in the hotel we were staying in and jumping in with our clothes on!!!... It was such an incredible feeling and such an unbelievable moment…that I would love to relive again and again! The pool was remarkably outstanding and I was gobsmacked ... Read review
