Sofitel hotel in LA - for our honeymoon Advantages: The most comfortbale bed in thw world! Disadvantages: Phone calls cost!! For our honeymoon we went to several places in the US, we stayed in LA for 4 nights all at the Sofitel hotel. We also stayed at the famous - Waldorf Astoria in New York and the Sofitel hotel comes very close to the Waldorf in terms of our favourite. The location of the hotel is not the best, i.e it is not in the middle of all the action, however tl not be a hindrance if you rent a car, and I suggest very strongly that you should rent a car because ... ...We only stayed in a standard room but it was huge!! The best bit about it was the bed. We were seriously jet-lagged for the first 2 days of the trip in LA so sleep was important, and I have to say that the best nights sleep of my life were in that bed. I can't explain it - it was so comfortable and very big, it must have been queen size, I could spread out completely without even touching my hubbie! Definitely well worth the money! Not normal Radisson Quality Advantages: Close to Beveley Hills Disadvantages: Location is a bit dodge....Dont go out at night without a bodyguard!! ...and should not have the Radisson name, as Radisson is a chain I link with QUALITY and this hotel didnot have any of this!!!.Ths only good thing to point out is that this hotel had a burger king straight across the road...shame the staff there didnot speak english!!! In The Heart of Hollwood Advantages: good sized room, brilliant prices and location Disadvantages: internet charge, reception hours ...loved to go up the Hollywood Hills and get ‘trashed’ but I just wanted to see what LA had to offer, although if you’re up for that kind of thing the option is there as they do invite everyone. There is no dining room here they have a drinks machine and a lounge area to sit and watch TV which is small but ok, there is a kitchen to cook breakfast but you had to write your name on everything so it didn’t get stolen even though a lot seemed to use everyone ... ...5 minute walk off of Hollywood Boulevard which is where the Chinese Theatre is where the Kodak theatre is, also nearby the Metro a 10 minute walk. There is a supermarket, pharmacy about 10 minutes away as well as a selection of restaurants and a shopping centre. It is also next to the El Capitan Theatre where they film the chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live so I saw a few celebrities while there. Want a bit of Hollywood on a Budget?? Advantages: Great cheap friendly helpful Disadvantages: can be noisy in the evening Hello my friends on Ciao! Hope you are all well and good; I have been away for a while as many of you know traveling the globe! I have so many reviews to write from my trip and have decided to start in order of the places I have visited! First stop LA baby! USA Hostel Hollywood was the first hostel I stayed in on my trip and with nothing else to compare it too I have to say I was very impressed, on arrival the staff were very efficient and helpful ... ...room, we also got a tour of the hostel and were shown all of the facilities straight away. Situated just off the Hollywood Boulevard this hostel is very convenient to find and is close to all major attractions, the Chinese Theatre is about 5 mins walk away and Universal Studios is only 2 train stops away. Superb location and value for money Advantages: Location, great old fashioned feel to the place, quiet Disadvantages: Possibility of a very squeaky bed. ...a 30 second walk from Hollywood Boulevard, the walk of fame and Graumans Chinese Theatre. Now whilst Hollywood is not the nicest place in the world, I've certainly been in more unpleasant areas, and to it's credit I think it has cleaned up of late, especially with the new Hollywood and Highland Centre around the corner, which also houses the Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars. Also, being as it is Hollywood its filled with tourists until the wee ... ...theatres, so it actually feels quite safe to be out in the vicinity. We stayed in a private double with shared bathroom, which worked out fine. I think there was only one or two other rooms sharing it so there was rarely trouble getting into it, and when it was occupied there was another bathroom along the hall.
