Seriously think about it for a moment. Do you really need to see 5,001 species of Birds like at the San Deigo zoo?
How about the size of the cages? Do you want to spend twenty minutes waking between exhibits like at many "open" zoos where they claim to care more about their animals?
Like the cages so small that you don't even have to walk? Then you'd probably not see the zoo in business very long, because the zoo's going to be targeted heavily by animal rights activists.
I have been to Zoos around the world. Bankok, Barcelona, London, Innsbrook, San Diego, Vienna, Orlando, Boston, Nashville, Atlanta, Memphis, Chicago, Big Bear CA, Kansas City... And probably a dozen others I've forgotten about. I love zoos but I've never had the pleasure of seeing one done just right until I first visited the LA Zoo in 2006.
It's big enough to have a wide variety but small enough to walk all around in one visit.
It's pens are EXACTLY the right size for the animals to be close enough to you but still have a quality life with lots of elbow room.
The Species are exotic enough for adults buy lots of fun & cute species mixed between for kids.
The layout is superb. You can walk to everything you want to see and not get lost, and if you're tired you can either sit in a 1 star or 4 star restaurant nearby, no matter where you are at the time.
The foods great & varied, and the smell in the air is clean and pure. The gounds are kept immaculate.
The best part is how close you can get to all these movie stars! A lot of the Animals you see in the LA zoo are Movie stars, naturally, since the Zoo is just outside of Hollywood!
The Lions, sitting a mere 15 feet from where I stood, literally posed for me when I pulled out my camera. I mean it. They're trained to look good on camera and my pictures of them proove it!
I could just hear the lioness asking me who I'd like my autograph made out to!
These are pampered critters, and few of them at all have not been around humans their whole lives. The security between you and the animals show it, too... I've never gotten so close to exotics like I did in the LA zoo... One time the baby giraffe actually reached over to lick a passerby across the short fence gap around their pen.
I simply can't recommend this zoo enough. It's one of the hardest things to leave behind since I moved away from the area. A must see!
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Alright then. Thanks for your instruction.
I think I'd better stick to Movie ratings, I'm much more in tuned with those as no one wonders how much I paid for the ticked and which theatre I went to.

You don't seem to get the idea behind Ciao where you give an account of your experience of the attraction or product. Keep it too general and you get rated low, leave out important information and you get rated down, don't put your point across properly and not include BASIC information and you get rated down. I don't want to google the address or price, I want it all here to have a good idea what to expect. A Zoo is a Zoo is a Zoo but there are some remarkable differences and while you are saying that there is plenty of room for the animals, it's still not as much as they would have if they were allowed to roam in the wilde. It appears that you have not understood the meaning of a peer review.

Perhaps I have a unique perspective on Zoos with all my experience, but I feel you're missing the point here.
ALL zoos cost an amount that a middle-class family can afford to get their kids in. All Zoos are located just off teh interstate somewhere. All zoos have a wide variety of animals or they wouldn't be worth talking about. All Zoos should take a whole day to see if you want to see everything there. Need the address for anything on earth? Google Map it...
This is the only zoo I know of on planet Earth that has all the unique features I described. All the rest of this stuff is just filler.
