Advantages: Easy drinking. Disadvantages: Not for everyone.
Believe it or not I'm actually drinking a glass of Ernest & Julio Gallo Colombard as I'm typing so this review will go one of two ways. Unfinished if the drinking is quicker than the typing, or finished with some potentially dodgy keyboardmanship. My apologies if it's the latter.
Call me picky or pedantic if you want but Ciao have got the spelling of this wine wrong, it's not a Columbard, but a Colombard. I know it's only the difference between a U and an O but these things are important. Right that's my mini rant over with, now on with the review.
WHITE WINE
Wine making is almost as old as man himself. Some of the earliest references to wine are actually made in the bible, so we're talking of an industry many thousands of years old.
Not surprisingly most white wines are made from white grape varieties such as ...
The Simpsons - Classics - Viva Los Simpsons is part of the Simpsons classics series of DVD's. Four episodes are included here: "Homie The Clown", "$pringfield", "Viva Ned Flanders" and "Homer At The Bat".
"Homie The Clown" has Homer enrolling at clown college after spotting a billboard for it. After becoming an official Krusty the Clown impersonator, he soon finds himself being recognized AS Krusty and in trouble with the mob. The Simpsons movie references are aplenty here, the best one being Homer banging his head on some glasses and playing the theme from The Godfather while being held captive by the mafia. A very good episode this, has memorable moments like Homer imagining everyone around him are clowns, even if they're his friends being burned to death, and Marge singing a circus anthem.
In "$pringfield", Mr. Burns sets up ...
Advantages: Rich, full bodied...shame its only a wine Disadvantages: Needs to be left to breathe.
OK folks I am not so great a day today, we were short staffed in work this evening so everything was manic and I come home to find my cat has gone missing (come back Julius mummy misses you).
So I was throwing things round the kitchen in a strop when I remembered I had a bottle of this in and thought..ahh I shall chill out and write an op.
This particular wine really does need to breathe, unlike some which you can get away without you must give this wine a minimum of 30mins to prevent it being too acidic...it basically warms and relaxes the flavours in the wine.
So whilt the wine is doing that I shall give you the low-down.
The bottle I have is year 2000. The label is plain cream and gold with the words "Ernest and Julio Gallo, Turning leaf, Zinfandel" on the front. Below which is a picture of an autumn leaf.
Its a 750ml ...
