I have the misfortune to be pretty dependent on public transport in the city. I don’t have the use of a car, and even if I did, I wouldn’t be inclined to even attempt to use it during the Edinburgh rush hour. Unless it was big, maroon in colour, covered in adverts, and could ... ...lot of buses. Lothian buses have a vast network: really, mammoth amounts of routes that you are never likely to want to take. But it does make for a pretty comprehensive service – basically there’s nowhere in Edinburgh you can’t get to by bus, whether its the zoo, the airport, or even Morningside where ShoppingGirl lives (posh wave). I’m still amazed by how easy it all is, even though it was 3 years ago that I gave up living in the wilds of Scotland ...

Lothian buses vary almost as much as the routes that they supply. Generally they are clean and punctual, but a few of them are fairly manky, smelly and horribly late (or non-existant).
They serve most areas of Edinburgh but are really designed for people to get from A to town then from town to B rather than direct A to B.
They have been slowly pushing up the prices:

Young Person: 65p
Adult: £1
