Advantages Friendly drivers, decent buses, frequent services even on Sundays and in the evenings
Disadvantages No number 5 to Colinton and no night buses during weekdays to Musselburgh
I have given this company an excellent rating because whenever I've been on their buses the drivers are mostly helpful.
I was on a First Bus the other day and to be honest it reminded me why I usually travel Lothian Buses. I got on the First Bus because I was running late for work owing to sleeping in otherwise I'd have used my Lothian buspass. The driver of the First Bus was rude and unhelpful and the bus stank. This is not something I've ever encountered with Lothian Buses. With Lothian Buses I've seen their drivers help mothers on and off the buses with buggies. Lothian Buses don't allow prams on their buses as a rule and to be honest I'm glad about this. Prams can be very cumbersome and take an age to fold (if they do fold). This would result in buses being delayed which is why I'm glad it's Lothian Buses policy not to allow prams on.
Only a few minor complaints with Lothian Buses. The first one is that they no longer run the number 5 up to Colinton. I would really like to see them reinstate the number 5 up in Colinton as at present there is no direct link between Colinton and the Southside of the City. The second is that they have recently withdrawn all night services to Musselburgh during the week, meaning if I have to catch a nightbus home I have at least a 40 minute walk ahead of me along a road I don't feel safe travelling alone on. Even if they just ran the buses to Musselburgh Grammar School would be helpful. I am about to write to Lothian Buses regarding my concerns on this issue.Other than that, very satisfied with the service provided. Keep up the good work Lothian Buses!
