Advantages: Cheap, Quieter than the North of Goa, more laid back, good selection of accomodation to suit all pockets
Disadvantages: can sometime be popular with busloads of Indian Tourists

...in the catch and if you like can help pull in the nets. Sometimes you will see dolphins, usually early morning or late afternoon. The local town is Margao and this is about 8 km drive and can be reached by taxi or bus or for the more energetic bicycle which can be hired locally. Colva has a bookshop, barbers, chemists, beauty parlours, ice cream parlours, jewellers, as well as general shops. There are numerous places to phone home and plenty of cyber cafes to email or surf the net. It's alot cheaper to use the net in Goa than in the UK but more expensive to print out emails. Colva is a backpackers destination as well as a package holiday destination. It suits a variety of people both young and old who prefer something alittle less lively than the north of Goa. ...a description of it and 24 to 48 hours later you have your excellent quaility item back to you at a fraction of the cost!!! ie Kashmiri suits for £100 odd pounds!! i would wholly recomend goa to all travellers looking for a varitey of outings great accomidation and just an all round relxing holiday!! ...! The beach itself at Calangute wasn't my favourite I must say - too many touts and people offering massages for my liking. I preferred to hop in a taxi for about £4 and head off to Cocoa beach - a beautifully quiet beach set into a bay so the waves are tiny. Food in Goa mainly consisted, for us, of seafood (which was incredible), rice dishes and curry dishes - all of which suited our pallets well. If you aren't big on any of the former you probably wont have any trouble - we even found an Italian restaurant (but beware, it doesn't tell you it is a vegetarian restaurant!) All in all, I completely loved my trip to Goa - the weather was wonderful the locals incredibly friendly and the beached divine - take a trip if you possibly can!... Read review
