Advantages: not full of tourists,a real taste of a US city
Disadvantages: huge ,few direct flights

...If you want a real taste of an American city and want to avoid your fellow country men then St Louis is the perfect destination. I went to St Louis quite by chance. It was my first trip to the US and I did'nt know where I wanted to go so I simply put a pin in a map, booked a flight and packed my rucksack! The flight was around eleven hours with a stop off in Atlanta. Atlanta airport is a mind blowing experience in itself with robot controlled trains and fabulous bars with "atmosphere". St Louis is dominated by The Cardinals baseball team and the stunning St Louis arch. Both are essentials on your itinery. The Budweiser brewery is also a must as is a paddle boat ride on the Missippi! I also stumbled upon St Louis central railway station which might not inspire much excitement unless your a train spotter! How wrong .... The shopping... Read review

...STA travel in Oxford seems to be the place to go if you want cheap tickets. It is always packed with people queing up, wainting to be served. I was going to a conference in New Orleans and was told to book my flight there. I had to wait a while, but the person who served me was very helpful and appeared to know exactly what I needed. He even told me the name of the airport that I needed to go to - St Louis airport. I had taken all the details of where I needed to go with me and given them to him, so, me being an idiot, I let him get on with it without questioning it. After all he had been there... The tickets were relatively cheap, the service seemed fine, if a bit slow. However, upon arriving at St Louis airport I discover that St Louis airport is (being in St Louis of course) 750 miles away from New Orleans. Because of the time I... Read review

...If you go to Paris and only see one thing, make sure its this. You will not be disappointed. It is quite simply stunning. HISTORY: Those of you who have read some of my other reviews might have guessed that I am slightly obsessed with all things historical! So i'll try to keep this section to the point!! Sainte Chapelle was built in the 13th Century by Louis IX (later Saint Louis) to house some of the relics of the Passion of Christ, including the Crown of Thorns. Louis wanted what basically amounted to a huge reliquary to be built inside the royal palace, Palais de la Cite. This chapel was the envy of Europe and probably copied in England and the Holy Roman Empire, to house their own relics. Advantages: Absolutely beautiful

The work at Versailles began when the young king visited Nicholas Fouquet at his chateau, Vaux-Le-Vicomte; Overcome with jealousy, Louis set about the realisation of his own dream. Building commenced in 1661, as Louis consecrated his status of 'absolute' king with a palace that reflected his greatness. He brought together the finest architects, artists and gardeners from across Europe to fabricate this monument 'A tous les Gloires de la France'. Now this venue has a wonderful history for me, as my grandmother and grandfather met and fell in love while walking around Versailles, (just at the end of the war) and romance is prevalent in the corridors, the appartements and the grounds of the Palace...
