Quite a harsh title, but I think quite fair. I went out to Gouvia in early July with my other half and found that the hotel (FOUR stars by the way!!!) was fantastic in every way other than the free for all breakfast. The location of the hotel is brilliant with the tide bringing the sea right up to the hotel complex walls which harbour the smallest of two great pools. The beach-side pool is quite small and square, but then again who needs a pool when the clear blue Ionian Sea is a footstep away?? The second pool, nicknamed the Lagoon, is about a two minute walk inland and is MASSIVE!!! There are plenty of sunbeds surrounding the pool so that you can leave the missus and grab yourself a beer at the poolside bar, which is reasonably priced for local beers and snacks. The food in Corcyra Beach is generally really good but the breakfast is typical Greek-trying-to-do-British breakfast, ie - Not exactly A1. If you take a walk into the 8 or 9 bars that are in the small strip in Gouvia then you will come across Melodies Bar which will do a good quality, proper English Breakfast for about £4. The staff at the Hotel are very freindly and helpful. They often dont shut the bar until everyone decides that they have had enough and you dont hear any complaints from them about this. Overall (for Hotel): 8/10
