Louis Iberostar Regency Beach Hotel, Corfu

Advantages: Super staff, great food, pools excellent, lots of little nice touches.
Disadvantages: Rocky beach. Dated rooms.

...I absoloutely adore Greece, and frequently holiday there....so when i found a bargin last minute All inclusive deal for the louis (iberostar) plagos Beach hotel, Zante i snapped it up!!! As you can imagine my partner and i got very excited, looking forward to a great holiday in a lovely country, with great beaches, and a fab hotel to stay at....mmmmm maybe not quite!!! When ariving at the hotel, we were warmly greeted by the lovely receptionist who beamed as she said to us "your room won't be ready for another 3 hours"...fantastic!!! THE ROOM Firstly, we had paid our extra bucks to get a sea view room....well we could see a faint glimmer over the top of the rest of the hotel i suppose!!! Advantages: The ONLY good hotel in Gouvia!!!
Disadvantages: The ONLY thing in Gouvia!!!

...Quite a harsh title, but I think quite fair. I went out to Gouvia in early July with my other half and found that the hotel (FOUR stars by the way!!!) was fantastic in every way other than the free for all breakfast. The location of the hotel is brilliant with the tide bringing the sea right up to the hotel complex walls which harbour the smallest of two great pools. The beach-side pool is quite small and square, but then again who needs a pool when the clear blue Ionian Sea is a footstep away?? The second pool, nicknamed the Lagoon, is about a two minute walk inland and is MASSIVE!!! There are plenty of sunbeds surrounding the pool so that you can leave the missus and grab yourself a beer at the poolside bar, which is reasonably priced for local beers and snacks.
