SITUATION
The hotel is located in the Yeroskipou area of Paphos, right on the beautiful sandy beach. It is about 3kms from the harbour area of Paphos. There is a small selection of shops a few minutes walk from the hotel. A ten minute walk takes you to an area with a reasonable selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Paphos airport is about 10kms from the hotel. There is a bus stop immediately outside the hotel. (service runs approximately every thirty minutes to and from Paphos harbour area, from early morning until about 22.30)

THE RECEPTION
The reception area was always 'manned' by at least two members of staff, who were multi-lingual, very efficient and extremely friendly.
We were given a glass of fresh orange juice while we completed the check in procedure. We hired a safety deposit box (CY£10.50) for our week's stay. Once all the paperwork was completed we were given stickers with our room number on to attach to our cases, to allow the porters to identify which room to deliver them to, handed our room and safe keys, given directions to our room and politely told to enjoy our stay.
There is a currency exchange facility available at reception.

GUEST ROOMS
The room we were allocated was number 1112, this was on the first floor (of three) of the hotel. We had a beautiful view of the Mediterranean sea, although it was too chilly in the February evenings to sit on the balcony and watch the sun setting. We did however watch it setting from inside the room.
The room was comfortably furnished with twin beds, bedside cabinets and lights, the telephone was on one bedside cabinet. There were two sofas (these convert to single beds) and a coffee table, which had three good sized drawers. There was a dressing table and chair, one of the drawers in this table housed the hairdryer. The television sat on top of a luggage storage cabinet. There were a couple of English speaking channels available on the TV.
The wardrobe accommodation was adequate for two people but there wouldn't really be enough clothes space for four adults. The safety deposit box was on the floor of the wardrobe. All the room facilities detailed above were in our room. The room was fully carpeted. There were sliding glass doors leading on to the balcony that was furnished with a table and two chairs.
The en suite bathroom was not particularly large but was clean and had all we needed. It was furnished with a WC, a bath with a shower and a unit with washbasin. Also here was an electric razor point. There was the normal supply of toiletries, fluffy towels and bath mat - these were all changed/replenished when required.
We could control the temperature in our room, which was good as the air temperature dropped considerably in the evenings.

THE RESTAURANT
We stayed on an all inclusive basis at this hotel and were impressed by the standards in the Espirides buffet restaurant.
The restaurant was open from 8am until 10.30pm every day, with two short closures (about 30 minutes each), to allow the staff to clear and clean, before lunch and dinner.
At breakfast time there was a good selection of fresh fruit, fruit juices, cereals, dried fruits, bread, rolls, croissants, yoghurts etc. There was also a selection of cooked items, bacon, sausage, tomato, boiled and scrambled eggs, (fried eggs cooked for you, while you waited) etc., in fact for those that enjoy a full 'British' the makings were there. Pots of tea and coffee were brought to the table by the staff, who were quick to replace these when required.
Lunch and dinner saw a selection of soups, pastas, meats, fish etc. along with fresh vegetables, salads and potatoes cooked in a variety of ways. There was also always a selection of puddings - fresh fruit was available here. At lunch and dinner time wine, beer and soft drinks were available by the glass. Vegetarian options were available at all times. Chefs worked at cooking stations in the restaurant continually replenishing the buffet displays, ensuring that food was always fresh.
For those who felt peckish in between meals there was a small area of the restaurant open serving snacks, not a wide choice but ample, sandwiches, soup, tea, coffee and fruit juice. There were also, usually, toasted sandwiches, burgers and the inevitable chips. Bowls of salad were here to accompany all this.
The outdoor pool restaurant is open in the summer season.

LOUNGE BARS
There are three in this hotel - only two are open in winter - Café Vienna and the Atrium Bar. Both of these are within the vast lobby area of the hotel and both serve a good selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. There are at least six cocktails available on the all inclusive menu. Tea and coffee are also available in these bars. Bottled water, by the glass, is available on the all inclusive menu but, if a bottle is requested you will have to pay for this. The all inclusive bar facility closes at midnight, however the bar does remain open and you can pay for drinks after this time.
The pool bar is open in the summer season.

THE RESORT
The resort of Paphos, in winter, is fairly sedate. However, although some tourist facilities close for the winter season, most remain open and if you decide not to venture out of Paphos at all there is ample at hand to keep you occupied.
There are also plenty of archaeological sites to explore in and around Paphos, there are some beautiful old mosaics on display within a few minutes walk of the harbour area.

SUMMARY
This was the first time that we have stayed at this hotel and we would return, as we enjoyed our visit very much.
St Valentine's Day was during our week in Paphos and probably because of the Aphrodite connection with Cyprus, the local people really got into the spirit of 14th February with hearts and flowers appearing in the most unexpected places on this day. The hotel's Espirides restaurant put on a special gala dinner on this night and every lady guest was presented with a red rose on leaving the restaurant. We didn't eat in the hotel's restaurant on this particular night so I can't comment on the gala meal.
The only disappointment we had during our stay was that on Sundays the staff does not 'service' the guest rooms. We found this really peculiar for a four star hotel. We actually thought our room had been missed by accident and contacted reception, who arranged for our towels to be changed, the beds made and bins emptied, but also informed us that this was not normally done for guests.
This hotel is very popular with the Cypriot people and it becomes very busy at weekends, we found this quite nice as it added to the atmosphere of the hotel.
There is a large car park in the grounds of the hotel, none of the bays appeared to be shaded.

Advantages: Family Friendly- All Inclusive, Friendly Helpfull Staff Disadvantages: Beachfront, location & very kiddylike
...believe and is owned by Louis Hotels.
We have been to lots of Louis Hotels in Greece and Cyprus and are never dissapointed. The standards are good and the ethos of the management is the same- they do their best to make everyone feel welcome and they DO succeed.
The Phaethon is very kiddylike- everything is geared up for a family stress-free holiday. There is a kids buffet and kids games all day organised by the animation team. Its part of the Louis ... ...for building sand castles or paddling really, but the pool is fine.
I think that as a family, we have sadly outgrown Phaethon, and have tried The Louis/Iberostar Ledra and the Louis Imperial- both excellent for older families/couples, but we would highly reccomend The Phaethon for a great holiday. ...

Advantages: Excellent food. Good value for money. Disadvantages: Overcrowded swimming pool area. Pool area very slippery.
We recently stayed at the Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, Paphos. We thought the hotel was ok and good value for money but its best point was the food.
The carpets in the corridors could be replaced as they were rather tired. The paintwork could be repainted particularly around skirting board and floor areas. But the hotel was generally clean. It has reasonable seating areas although a lot of the loungers were big plastic cushioned seating rather than ... ...had a nice room overlooking the trees around the pool. It was a little close to the outside bar area so if you wanted an early night you would hear noise from people talking and any entertainment that might have been going on. This didn't bother us as we didn't go to bed till late and the airconditioning and my earplugs (Husband snores) drowned any outside noise out!! Some of tiles in the bathroom were broken and damaged. The bed was a bit on the ...

Advantages: Good for families Disadvantages: A little too far from resort centre
I was going to write a review of this hotel as we stayed here last summer but I must admit I can't think of anything you haven't covered.
But I will try my best.
On arrival at hotel.( It did look a little worn from first appearances).
We stayed for 2 weeks last week of July, first week of August.
I must say we booked half-board(paid about £1900 2adults & 1 child) ,so we didn't get served a welcome drink as all-inclusive guests do.
A porter arrived ... ...from us (which we found very helpful after a 4 hour flight). at least we were first stop from the airport.
After some discussion we decided to up-grade to all-inclusive, (cost about £500 more)it was very hot and didn't want to be wandering about looking for somewhere for lunch and drinks were expensive if you weren't all-inclusive, turned out to be a very wise decision as we could hardly get our son from the pool.
Our room was a side view overlooking ...
